I get the dance quest, head to the stage. Im told to do an exotic dance.
I hit the dance button, click on the box to skip to the exotic dances and start exotic 4.
But I didnt start the dance in time? Maybie two or three secconds had passed between the jedge request and my try.
What the hell did I do wrong? Or is this another game 'feature'?

"exotic" is the literal name of the dance, not exotic2, not exotic3 not exotic4, but exotic.
So, yes, you did something wrong, you assumed the game was not literal and lame.

You are right as far as what most Dancers call it. This quest doesn't make sense for our fiction. Not your fault, you aren't a fool.
These NPCs just don't seem to speak our lingo or understand the Dancer community very well.
/ponder Maybe we should send them to our FAQ guides...

I finally completed the Musician quest and am at the stage of getting 20 people to watch me for the dance quest.
The easiest way to do the audition in my opinion is to have a small /changed macro and to start dancing as soon as you hit the stage and hit your change dance macro and pick it out of the list once they tell you what dance to do. This avoids the lag of starting up the dance. This of course is only good for the audition phase since the performances you'll want to talk to the audience first and find out what they want.
Seems to me the easiest way to raise their satisfaction too is to alternate flo's with the one or ones they like being every other one. Just don't use the want they don't want to see. Last time they told me they liked rhytmic and flo 8. I just started rhythmic and went something like flo 8,7,8,2,8,3,etc... and their satisfaction level went up quickly.
I would also suggest bringing some friends to help with the second and third performance to talk to the audience. Makes it alot easier. Personal tells are the most effective way to get people to watch you as well and you can make some good tips and new friends

Guess this means if I'm doing exotic and they tell me to do flo 5, I shouldn't do flo 6, 7, 8, or 4, eh? (don't remember if 3 is not unique either (I've never been a master dancer))
Edited to specify that yes, I'm just being snide about it

Edited this part because I'm too slow to catch sarcasm
The method I mentioned above seemed to move the satisifaction the fastest. It went up a level every time it gave an update doing that. When I spammed the Flo's they wanted and didn't vary much the progress usually took at least two updates to go up.
Just a note when I first did the musician one I failed it because I stopped and didn't change music. The following methods don't work on the Theatre Manager to speed up the 24 timer...

/rub
/kiss
/tickle
/flirt

Put on my hotpants and tried these but she was very unreceptive
