What is it with people that they can't use a bit of basic courtesy when asking for buffs. I get 'I want a buff' or 'give me a buff' so many times. What happened to 'please' or even a hello or hi first. this is a result of AFK buff bots that don't require this sort of thing. I for one will refuse service until some manners are shown, I dion't think it's a big thing to ask.

I get a lot of seemingly random group invites, then they disband and run off when I talk to them.

I had a guy doing that to me on Shadowfire the other day. Except, when I'd try to disband, he'd invite me again. And again. It took him a few minutes to realize I wasn't broken, just a near-Novice Musician that was getting a little tired of /declining

Well I agree completely. I am not an entertainer, yet , but I will be in the near future. I am a male in game and RL and am absolutely apalled at the lack of respect for the entertainer class in general. I am always a gentleman to everyone I meet, unless of course they are an AFK-BOT then I call for there immediate cessation of all activities and for there ultimate demise. I understand havingot go AFK for a bit, but not hours at a time. That just cheapens the profession in my eyes and breeds hostility from all those araound. Just my 2 creds worth.

But... that's the most fun part!

It's like jumping out and yelling "Boo!" when someone assumed they were alone in the room. It's like when the statue in the House of Wax suddenly turns to look at the hapless victim... or when the mummy springs to life to destroy the interlopers of the tomb, thus fulfilling the Curse of the Pharaohs...

Okay... no more Late Show Horror Theatre for Deila...

Yeah.. it's horrible the way you get treated when being 'asked' for buffs. I too have gotten the oh so cosmopolitian 'U buff me b*tch', or 'u do buff plz'.. only for them to get a buff and run out without tipping. Darn shame the /denyservice doesn't stick like a friendlist.. it's so hard to remember the mass number of morons out there.. *snicker*
When someone who is polite speaks to me, it's like a breath of fresh air, it almost makes me want to rejoice and tip THEM for being nice lol

I've actually grown so aggrevated with the entertainment situation that I refuse to buff people who speaks like that to me. I normally get cursed at in tells for it, but I've got some standards. Were I you, I wouldn't feel guilty at all about refusing services to those who treat you like rubbish.

I feel sorry for the lady performers in this game. A male musician, well at least me, doesn't get near the abuse. I do get the "buff" and "buff plz" statements along with the "invite plz". My general response on the first two is to respond with a "do you want a buff" to force a simple yes/no response. That generally breaks the ice and starts at least a small conversation to talk them through the instructions. The invite request I generally respond with "You don't need to be in a group for a buff but you do need to ask for one". This either invokes a request or they move on, both of which are fine by me.

I've found that the majority will be decent if not civil or chatty if they are faced with a human who responds accordingly. If they aren't then I don't buff them. I hate the no-tippers just on principle even though this isn't my income I get that from rifleman.

On BriaI haven't encountered some, though honestly not very many rude patrons when buffing. Most of the patrons I have come into contact with seem at least semi polite (though not all of them tip ) The weird thing with playing a rodian female dancer though, is the rasists lol I have had a few people come in and be extremely mean to her, spit on her etc, apparently for being a rodian O_o I can't tell if this is RP or not, but its sort of disconcerting. My tailor on Ahazi has met her fair share of silent rude clients however.....who apparently think it is too much trouble wasting time on basic pleasantries unless I pointedly ask for them before I will make them anything

Tarquinas is odd... Theed is pretty much totally empty these days, but if you want a live entertainer you go there. Coronet is nothing but buffbots. So naturally, I spend most of my time in Theed, and I do pretty well for customers. But we do have people who come in and ask for an invite to the group, simply because they're trained that you need to be grouped for a mind buff. Ra'ano and I, along with some others, are doing what we can to reeducate the server... but it's slow going.

I'm trying to re-educate Naritus as well, Fuscia. Most people don't realize that you can buff without a group. I tell people this and the response is usually something like, "No you can't." or "I've never heard of that/done it that way before."

Some funny/sad things that have happened to me:

1. I was helping some friends (who were actually ATK in Coronet ) grind musician xp. I signed on my husband's alt (Master Musician who could train my friend) and had her play in a corner while my friend played and I danced. There were about 10 of us in a group. Another frequent patron who sometimes jammed with us wandered in. We immediately grouped him up thinking he was going to hang out with us. He walked over to the alt, who was also grouped, and said in spatial, "Invite to (alt's name) please." I jumped on my husband's computer and said back in spatial, "I am NOT a buff-bot!", then logged out. (I was already upset over some other rudeness that day and just decided to get out of game and do other things.

2. With the same alt, I was playing music in Mos Eisley, helping my husband to pass his ent quest. (BTW, I still can't pass mine.) A person walked in and sent an /invite... repeatedly. I kept declining and instead of asking what's up, he just says, "Need buff plz."

3. A person came into the cantina one day with pretty bad bf and starts to watch me. I was still working on getting Master at the time, so I was happy. I tried to start a conversation. He doesn't answer for a few minutes. When he did, he said, "I'm gonna go AFK while you work." I immediately changed out of my fleshwrap and into street clothes.

I'm fortunate enough to have not gotten someone be completely rude to me, but the original poster is right. I rarely hear Please or Thank You anymore. And it's not just for entertaining. I've been treated this way for training and while out hunting or grinding my combat xp with other people. You don't know how many times I've wanted to channel my mother and say to people, "What's the magic word?"

I've come up with a few 'tough love' guidelines for myself:

- Never use my BE clothes for buffing unless it's a good friend, good tipper, or the person wants to hold a conversation

- When asked, "Can you buff?", just say yes and keep dancing until they ask, "Will you buff me please." (I've had several wonder why I'm not buffing when they approached me this way. Just because I can doesn't mean I will.)

- Never buff in a group unless it's my own group or I have several paying customers in a short period of time

"you buff....me watch.....shakey shakey"

Why do I have no doubt this happens to the women dancers. Some of the stuff the women dancers tells me guys say to them just floors me and makes me glad I'm not woman.

Maybe it's because all these combat types spendso much time with the cavemen on Dantooine that it's starting to rub off. "Ugh me tuff combat guy, me need buff, pretty shakey girl buff, Ugh Ugh"
