hi , been trying to pass part 3 of the dancer part of the theatre quest and everytime i get out to the audiance they do not tell me the dance they wan to see , that happened 3 days in a row , and last night thy wont even tell me the flourish they do not want to see or see .

i have done the music one and got the new western dance for the music since my char is both ,master dancer/music buti guess what im asking is , are the npc's like crystals or pearls? random?

whats the odds of doing it 5 days in a row and not one NPC telling me what dance they want to see?

any idea would be great, btw im runnign this out of the coronet theatre.

They are indeed random - it seems there's a pool of answers that can be chosen, and each npc picks an answer from the pool, without ensuring that at least one npc gives you good information.
Keep at it, and eventually you'll get good rolls and they'll tell you what you need to know .
Incidentally, I seem to hear more complaints about this problem on the dance quests than on the music quests, but that may be just because the music board's somewhat quieter.
Good luck!

I truely believe dance is bugged. I've helped a lot of friends by polling the audience. I've also completed the musician quest and am now doing the dance quest.

Without a doubt the dancers get incomplete information far more often than the musicians. I've only seen one musician get an impartial set and every dancer gets it at least one time if not more. Something is bugged, either the lists that are randomly selected from or the randomization itself but it is broken.

Being broken wouldn't be terrible except for the fact that it is also harder for a dancer to guess their way through the concert. Musicians can flourish so much faster that they can affect the ratings faster and react to each rating message. Dance flourishes don't appear to be counted if they are spammed during a running flourish sodancers have far less time to react to those progress messages and guess their way through the concert.

BTW I'm talking about helping roughly25 musicians and 20 dancers through this quest so far numbers that are large enough to see a distinct difference.

It took me manytries to pass the third audition. When I finally did they still hadn't told me what dance they wanted to see I either got lucky or they felt sorry for me.

Hang in there is about the best advice I can offer. They are a fickle crowd. I foundit helped to have my friends group with me and watch them smack the audience members around a bit

good luck!

My personal experience with the dance and music quests may be somewhat unique it seems. Every time I've done them (twice on TC, once before rewards were in and once after) and once on live, and every time I got not only good information, but far more than I even needed. So much so that initially I thought it was justa given that the audience always gave good info.

So... I haven't personally seen anything as bad as has been reported often on the forums about long strings of no good info, though I've been hearing about it ever since the quests went live.

Anyone else have the same type of experience that Elwyn is discussing? Do we have others who have helped several people with music and dance quests, and agree that dance yields too little info far more often than the music versions?

Are you so sure of that? I read I dunno where that for the musical part you can flourish much faster than the speed flourishes actually play, just as for the fast buffing process. You can make a flourish every 2 seconds or something like that... I thought it would be just the same for dance, isnt it?

It did not seem the same from my experience doing musician and now doing the first and second dance concert twice. I think the difference is how musician flo's queue and dance doesn't. It's just a sense from my limited experience but I felt I could push the mood faster with music than I could with dance. For instance I did my second attempt at the second concert last night for dance (passed YAY). When I pumped out flourishes as fast as I could by hand the satisfaction message didn't move, when I waited for each flourish to finish before doing another one I got movement on the satisfaction every time.

I've done both the Musician and the Dancer quests. The Musician quest was easy, and I got useful information from the audience every time. I failed on the Dancer quest many times, over 12, andnever received any useful information on any attempt. I finally passed the Dancer quest easily after creating a macro that cycled thru all the dances and flos except the lyrical and formal dances. I guess that doing a dance and flo they likeout weighs doing one they don't like.

(YMMV)

I have done the quest twice for the song and 5 times for the dance. The first time I did the musician part, I zipped through it with no failures and got good information from each audience. I had this experience once doing the dance part. My other runs ranged from a few failures to never getting all that I needed and finally managing to complete the quest by the skin of my teeth. My worst runs were with the dance part... while 2 runs are not really a viable sampling for statistical purposes, I did have less trouble completing the musician part on the 2 times I did it than I did with all but one of my attempts with the dance part.

Dancer flourishes do indeed "count" when done during a flourish. The fact that you are still doing a flourish is pure client side information. The server has no knowledge of the length of flourishes for either dancers OR musicians. It just knows action cost and flourish limits.

However the reason the musician one is easier is they have less to choose from. A master dancer has 14 dances to choose from (16 with master entertainer) while a master musician has 10. If you change a lot, the musician has around a 40% better chance of guessing a "correct" music than a dancer does.

In my experience (Having done the dancer twice and musician once) the information given between the two is roughly the same. Though the one time I did musician I managed to get very satisfied, which I never got either time as a dancer.

I just tested this for you today after reading this post.

I haven't had a problem with it, but what you may want to try is to stand on stage and type /convers with an audience member highlighted.

You might be having an issue where what the audience wants is resetting when you step up on stange.

Using /convers you can talk t almost all the audience fairly quickly. I'd suggest writing a macro for it so you can just hit F1 and so doing talkn to the entire audience fairly quickly.

Took me 3 attempts to do the 3rd performance the last time I did it a couple of days ago.

First time I did it on TC I think it took me two attempts.

I successfully did the dancer's quest, about a week after it was introduced, but failed the audience auditionparts about 2-3 times each round. I did exactly what they asked for, and not what they disliked, and 'not satisfied' was the best result. I already had the info that I should /changedance and flo more than the audience gave clues for and I did that. I ended up doing a /changedance through every dance I had, and 2 flos (the ones requested, if there were any) per dance. I failed the first attempt like this, and the second try started going back to dances I had done, then /changedance poplock did the trick the second time for that danceduring the same audition. ???

On the last round audition, I tried and failed twice, and the last time, just went through every dance, 2 flos each, then /changedance ...and low and behold after two or three times doing poplock, 'satisfied'. Poplock was never mentioned as a desired dance either time, and I did target and /conv the entire audience (many runs got me efficient at this! lol). I also was over it and thinking I had failed, and did the florish they were 'sick of' on the winning round too, so go figure.

I had it in mind that I probably wouldnt get the thing at first attempt, so it wasn't really too frustrating, I just had to remember to start the try early on in the gaming evening, so my 24 hour wait didn't have me at 3am for the next attempt, heh.

My conclusion, its just random or bugged,so just start with what they ask for, /changedance through every dance you know, do 2 flos each, rinse repeat, and pray!

Side comment: I know if I dance the quest prize dance for enough xpI can learn a part 2 ... but I am having a hard time making myself do it, lol 'Theatrical Dance' looks pretty odd to me! My hope is it will lead the way to further dancer content, *cough* *Hutt Casino?* *cough*...? ...so that makes it worthwhile to go for it!
