how do ent's fit in the GCW
they use their softer skills, their cunning, the perception that they are harmless to win the war with brains not braun.
dancer and GCW idea not being a dancer does this sound viable?
I get a quest to go and entertain some high level Imperials (NPC's)
I go, dance, make them relax and trust me
Rob them blind (with a new deception dance/skill) and steal some confidential papers about troop movements (player troop movements).
Take the information back to the Rebels (my guild).
The information showsinformation about severalplayer rebel base, like the time over the past few days when the least members have been logged on and and defending it, the game mechanics would allow SOE to track this....
My Imperial guildmates can then formulate an attack plan based onwhen the base is least lightly to be defended.

You should get tef'd a certain amount of time after you rob the NPC's.. when they 'discover' that they're missing everything.
The idea sounds nifty so far

I spoke to a sumggler friend about this where they fit in, also makessmuggling dangerous
so lets say we are a rebel guild and we have a the ability to call in a major rebel (NPC) force to help us defend against an imperial (player) attack force.
however..... in order to arrang the support.
They need us to send (smuggle) information about when our base is least/most vunurable to attack.
so a document is generated by the game and we give it to our guild smuggler to take to the rebel command on say another planet.
so off he goes..... but, these a real risk he will be stopped and searched along the way bycrackdown type of NPC's
so oh god! he's stopped, searched and the information is found.....
Now (as above) the next imperial Entcould well pick this information up as now it has been found it's becomes an Imp player quest reward.
the end result is....
The guild now risks an attack at a bad time for them, so many will have to miss some sleep/work! to defend the base against a possible attack when they usually arn't on line.
tell me a smuggler who wouldn't have sweaty palms doing this mission......?
should he have pulled it off and an imp attack force turned up one day, the moment the action starts a serious NPC rebel force turns up to kick some imp player a$$...

of course smugglers will complain that should be their job
I would welcome them with open arms to dance so it could be their job.

Great Idea!
WAAAAYYYYY back when this game started and I made my first character (Arashi - on Kauri) I had thought it would be a nifty idea if Dancers did the "spy-net op" job that is done in-game currently by NPC's. Remeber back in the day when all the struggling new bounty-hunters hung out in Keren and Kadaara cantinas and were THE BEST tippers? I thought it would make sense if the BH's had to come find an entertainer for their clues (we hear alot of juicy gossip in cantinas y'know) to get that bio-sig thingy they have to stick in their droids. Just a thought. But I like your idea too.

I would love to see some kind of spy ability added for our place in the GCW. It would fit well with RL history and with my own RP background.

That sounds cool espacially since I play a bothan, who are said to be good spies/assassins. That kind of conntent I was hoping for when entering the game and choosing a bothan for a Character...
Some of these ideas would really enrich the content.

I've always liked the spy idea. I originally envisioned my Musician to be in this role. (before buying the game) I've always wished there was a game mechanic to support it.

I remember back in the day when BHs and other classes paid us to travel with them. Even if we didn't want to combat, they'd want us with them to keep them going, especially if they got hit with a mind disease.
On topic however, I think the idea definitely has merit. Hopefully they will consider such things when they go about revamping the professions and the GCW after the Combat Revamp.
