I don't know how to change the text colors for specific words. I know to change the colors of specific types of text but not individual words. Any ideas?

Go to Options (CTRL O)

select "Chat Color"

On that window there is a field at the bottom for "New Text Colorization"

Enter the word or phrase you want to color in that field.

Select the color from the palette.

Click "Add Word Colorization" for words or phrasesor "Add Sentence Colorization" for complete sentences.

While you're at it, I encourage you to separate your chat windows and put all the System, Planet, and Combat messages in a side window to the right of your main chat window. It removes xp spam and tip messages from the main spatial spam we all know from standing in a cantina and helps keep you sane

In addition to highlighting "tip," I highlight the entire sentence which says "Dancing experience" and "Entertainer Healing experience" dray gray.

That way, I can ignore those lines entirely while I dance.

I've learned that xp gains do not show up if you hit the xp cap. But if you're still working on your dancing skills, that's not an option.

Aside from "tips" I also have "bank credits" highlighted to catch those tips customers give me from their bank.

sinda, ironically i have those same two phrases in that same color set up for those times when i actually get a tip, so it stands out and i can personally acknowledge the tipper.

as a side note, it also helps when accepting payment for various other skills, such as Image Design. after one very embarrassing situation where i was almost positive i had been ripped off a significant amount of money after performing a 30 minute total ID makeover - i eventually found the bank transfer line, and felt awful about the things i had said during an exchange. anyways, that was patched up (i still see the person for occasional changes, we can now laugh about what happened) and with the absence of a method for secure payment for services, the best advice is to ALWAYS highlight any sentence with phrases concerning money or payments.

i also highlight my name in sentences so i can pick out anything directed to/about me from all the continuous cantina chatter!

I also have the phrase "heals you" highlighted in green so I don't forget to thank my friendly neighborhood medics. And to help block out the xp spam, I've got "entertainment healing" set to show up in a dark grey, "dancing experience" a slightly brighter grey to stand out just a tad, and "flourish" still lighter. This way it's easier to keep an eye on my dancing experience and flourishing, but don't get so bombarded with the entertertainment healing spam.

Yeah, I also highlighted "heals you" for the same reason. I like to thank my medics. :-)
