Hello all,

I started the entertainment profession the other day, wandered into the Theed Cantina, joined a group, and started shak'n my bootie. I got halfway to entertainment healing IV and dancing III. When I started out, the dancing xp I got per flourish was like 12 or so. I asked around and people said that was normal. As I climbed the tree I changed to the newest dance I knew how to do, and the xp went up. By the time I was doing Rythmic 2, I was getting around 18-21 xp per flourish, not bad I thought, but still going to take me a bit to get to Dancing III. I logged for the evening and came back last night to do some more dancing. I started up my usual Rythmic 2 and started shak'n it. I then noticed I was only getting 12-13 xp per flourish... what gives? I was in a group same as last time, but the xp was horrific! Was I dancing the wrong dance to the song or something? What do I need to do to get decent dance xp?

I am not exactly sure of the formula, but I can give you some of the factors that seem to change dance experience:

  1. The dance/song you are performing

  2. The highest level dance/song being performed in your group

  3. The number of people in your group

  4. The number of people watching or listening

  5. I have heard that people clapping boost xp, I have not seen that.

  6. Likely others that I am missing

Interesting... does anyone have any more concise information?

The biggest factor for Dance XP is (a) the dance you're doing and (b) the number of people in your group. I've been in Theed cantina when there were NO customers, but a full group of 20 entertainers, and I've seen 130 Dance XP per 10 seconds (that was getting close to Master). It did not go up or down when customers came in and watched - that I noticed, anyway.

Something else that may affect it, I'm not sure, is the level of the players in your group. I doubt that, but it's another variable that would have to be ruled out.

Edit: One more thing. If you stand in a house by yourself and dance, you will notice that you get no Dance Xp until you flourish at least once. After that, you get (n-1) xp per 10 seconds whether you flourish or not, down to zero xp. Flourishes, according to the scanty documentation with the game, improves XP "slightly". I would add to that, "VERY slightly". We're probably talking less than 5% bonus for flourishes.

Just perform the highest level dance you can while flourishing at least once every 5 seconds, and group with as manyACTIVE performers as you can, and get people with bad fatigue/wounds to watch you (although in my opinionspamming for /watch is kinda unfair to the other entertainers). Added to this, if you're going on to the Dancer career, get allthe 'Dancing Knowledge' boxesand allthe fatigue healing boxes first, then get the wound and technique boxes. That way you'll advance fastest.
