Thread: tip the AFK dancers?
I'm a novice architect - no entertaining skills what-so-ever. As a result of my crafting personality I die alot in the field. When I'm healing I always try and watch/listen to entertainers that aren't AFK - I am against macroing for XP while away - in any prof. I usually don't tip AFK dancers/singers either... wondering if this is common practice?
Have any of you found to get less tips while AFK?
Also I usually tip between 500cr and 1k.... is that normal?
Thanks for you time
I tip based on the quality of the experiance the entertainer gives me - i think it's fair that if they are AFK - they deserve no gratitude (other then XP from me watching/listening to them)
I'm a master dancer who actulay sat here many hours for my skill points.. i also go out and fight when im not up to dancing.. when i come to the cantina to heal i like to watch the other dancers to help them get the xp they need..but lately there have been so many afk dancers and i honestly dont feel they deserver the xp nor the heals nor the tips because in my opinion they are to lazy to work for there skills they would rather have a macro do it for them.
im always trying to help dancers in any way ican.. but the afkers is what gets me the most..
The only time I've tipped AFKers was when I was tired and didn't check first to make sure they were there. Some of these folks are very devious, running long macros that include social chat and not wearing their AFK flag. Unless you actually send them a /tell and get a reply, it's hard to tell.
Now the first thing my scout does when she walks into a cantina is look for someone who is already talking in spatial, send them a /tell, and after I /watch them a bit I tip them generously and thank them for actually being at their keyboard.
The AFKers never even know I was there.
I'm a master entertainer and novice dancer - working towards master.
NEVER tip, NEVER heal, NEVER watch/listen to AFK entertainers - especially if their macro spams for heals & tips!

As I said in my own thread about AFK dancing... I tell people that I am AFK and not to tip me. Some still do because they appriciate that I am way out of the way on Lok and am the only dancer/entertainer on the planet...
Some have had to waste skill points to take entertainer just to heal mind wounds... but I have level II in dance healing ... Hey Maybe enough for level III by the time i get home... so I heal much faster.
So... No you should not tip AFK dancers unless you want to encourage them to dance afk.
One guy I heard had a great idea: if you're forced to watch an AFK Entertainer because you have no other option, once you're healed, tip them one credit. That way, the lazy Entertainer in question can fully understand just how lame they are! ![]()

Yup.
I don't know of anyone (either in my PA or otherwise) who tips AFK entertainers.
With money becoming harder to come by as the weeks progress (shuttle price increases, mission payments lowered, cost of Master crafter items etc) people are more likely to /tip someone who is there, or get a 'free' heal off the AKFers. In my experience anyone who's playing a 'fighter' type who feels obliged to come to the cantina for heals would rather have someone behind that dancing toon chatting to them than stare at a macro-puppet drumming their fingers until their BF has cleared up. Of course the AFK is cheaper, but the real thing is priceless ![]()
Thank you for proving my point.
The AFK dancers ruin game for online dancers coz CHEAPSKATES watch em.
I realize that this AFK entertainer thing is going to be a dead horse forever and ever.
Bottom line is though one of the worst things about afk entertainers is that its undermining the economic structure that IS entertainment.
Entertainment was designed to be another time and money sink. But with afkers that is lost. I know ALOT of people that come into a crowded cantina and specifically watch afk'rs because they can get out of tipping.
Its easier to dis a bot then a real person. This is getting worse as time goes by. Not only that but lately i am starting to be ridiculed by other up and coming entertainers because i refuse to tell them how to run an afk macro.
I will not aid the enemy, thats just me. Call me what you will insult me etc and so forth. But i will not help you.
Not only that i keep tabs on the afk macroers. I know who they are and when they do come up for air and ask for training i take the advice of someone else on these boards and tell them to macro on over to the trainer and pay for it.
All i can tell you afk macrotainers is tough crap!
If you don't like me because of it thats your deal, but i am sure many of my non afk entertainer friends would back me up in this.

I just Made Master Dancer Saturday Night . all the time put into it was me rl at the keyboard chatting and pressing hotkeys and some small macros but i was never afk less i was getting a coke or sandwhich. Tho I have grouped with TONS of afk ppl. but I can say that the ppl remember me they say hello to me they tip me very well heal me and talk its great. the funnyest thing was last night I left the group to go train in my last skill and master and wen i returned to the cantina about an hour and the 2 normal AFK dancers were standing in the crouded cantina spaming . we will not dance less you tip us first . so since the ppl were hurt and since i was now a master dancer i figured hey i do this for fun. I began to dance despite the intresting comments from the non dancing dancers . and once again the ppl in the cantina knew me and after saying hello i made about 35k in 40 mins =p . All i have to say is if you wanna dance afk fine thats cool with me but don't get mad wen ppl don't care if you are their or not .
