Many Great and Important ideas where turned in and I will get around to most of them as soon as possible. I'd like to thank all of you who offered your thoughts and I hope you all are happy with the issue I presented for the time being.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Profession: Dancer

Top Issue:Mind buffs aren't worth much even at Master level.

Additional Detail: Right now they last for such a little amount of time that it wears off before most can make use of them. Additionally anyone can just target you and get the benefit from it, would like to see it used more as a positive reinforcement tool or something we can use to help people we choose to more effectively.

Proposed Solution: The duration needs to be increased dramatically. Right now it caps at 30 minutes. It needs to be at least an hour, or perhaps even 2 hours like the Doctors buffs. The effectiveness of the buff isn't bad but wouldn't complain about it being higher either.

Also this needs to be something that is targeted. A way to grant this buff to those we choose to help not just anyone that watches us. This would help people see us as a more useful profession as well as reduce the effectiveness of long term afk macro users. This needs to be something we give to people directly and consciously.

Good Choice Raven couldnt agree more. Hope they give it to us just as you stated.

I also cant resist the urge tho to say <OMG A TARGETED BUFF> I dont see ppl crying about this the way they did /deny service and there is absolutely no difference between target mind buff or healservice....it all amounts to the same thing YOUR CHOOSING who gets your service.

good to see ppl here relaxing a bit and comming down to the real world....now if we can just get them to see that afk dancers are not a threat to anyone I might start posting here more.

There has been no change in our outlook on this issue. Maybe you just missed the memo.

The fact is, /denyservice is a negative tool, to be used to deny our services to players -- presumably for the purposes of discouraging harrassment, but theoretically ALSO very exploitable asa way to extort tips from players. Like we really need that kind of crap added to our image right now? As if it will make any difference to the griefer who just gets off on insulting dancers?

On the other hand, improving our Mind buffs is a very positive enhancement. It first solves part of the current problem in PvP with mind damage. If players can add +50% to their mind pools for significant lengths of times rather than the current 30 minutes, it makes Mind shots less of an uber-kill tactic.

Second, and most importantly, it finally allows us to offer a service to the players beyond just healing Battle Fatigue (which many of them consider to be an artificial gimp put into the game only to justify entertainers anyway). In that respect, it allows us to offer something of value for the tips we want -- or improve our good will with other players by giving it for free. That's our choice, but it remains a positive change.

My last point is that targetable mind buffs will gimp AFKers as they can no longer offer the same services as those of us who are actually playing the game. That's a great first step, and for our next step we are going to petition SOE to heavily nerf XP for those who are AFK for more than 2 minutes at a time. Then maybe some respect will return to the entertainer profession. Don't want the XP? Fine, afk your heart out.

As for posting here more, that's your choice. Judging from your attitude toward the rest of usso far I can't say most of us really care.

OOC:

I just had a thought -and maybe it's been brought up before or maybe it's totally silly. I'll let you decide.

What if we make our abilities to do flashy lights more useful by making them the method by which we give mind buffs? Maybe some would have a general area affect and others would be targetted so that both the dancer and the reciever of the mind buffsget theflashy animation? In that way, it would work very similarly to the medic skills, only with a more entertainment based special effect.

Just some rambling thoughts that popped into my head.

Couple quick questions, Ravenmist (and others who've spent some time thinking about this idea):

Should the "new and improved" targetted buff (assuming we are able to get it) take as long to administer as the current buff? I believe it's 15 minutes right now. Should this change? Tied to that: Should an entertainer be able to buff more than one person at a time? Should this be tied to skill level (techniques branch, I guess)? Should effectiveness be tied to skill level, but all entertainers can target the same number of people?

The reason I ask is, given a hunting group of more than 2-3 people, even the long duration buff could begin wearing off before everyone is buffed if it takes 15 minutes per buff, one person at a time. I'm curious what others feel is an acceptable time requirement for the buff, and whether or not the number of targets or the effectiveness (or both) should be increased at higher skill levels.

I haven't had too much time to consider this yet, but I think the time is acceptable, provided an entertainer can target a group of people (an actual group or a certain number of targets - either idea would work). Anyone else have any ideas on this?

I have to disagree with this. Doctor buff duration and effectiveness are based on locating and combining a number of high quality components. Ours are free. What does need to be fixed is the application of the buff, making it easier for others to apply to themselves (using /watch then walking away for example, instead of fumbling around with the radial menu, which I can't get working half the time anyway when watching other dancers). Also it would be super if we could buff ourselves, but I don't see that one happening.

While this is indeed true, these buffs are several of a myriad of very useful abilities possessed by doctors. We're asking for one significant thing.

I have to disagree strongly with this choice.. Making our missions fun and worthwhile should be our number one priority right now! Mind buffs will never be in any kind of heavy demand for the majority of dancers but missions are something that every dancer can benefit from.
