Thread: Cantina overcrowding

I don't know about other servers, but on my server (Flurry) there are a few packed to the rims cantinas while the others are left standing empty. For the most partthose cantinas are filled with Holo-grinding Ent bots. Afkentertaining doesn't really bother me,because I admittedly was afk for a portion of the time that I was training Dancer. However, why do they feel the need to fill the air with spam? If they want to grind out dancing fine but why must they include messages and emotes in their macros. The emotes don't fool anyone into thinking you are actually there. The spamming messages just annoy people and make it nearly impossible for us that are at the keyboard to hold a conversation or conduct business because our spatial chat flies up at light speed. Now the newest messages are, "Invite me if I'm not already in a group". I can't begin to tell you how annoying that message is. As a group leader looking for people who need to join a group, that message gets very annoying and you end up missing the people that really need to get in a group. Anyway, someone posted this solution to spreading the entertainers out throughout the galaxy a little:

Put a max limit of 20 entertainers/cantina and that will solve most of the problems. This will disperse the entertainers throught the galaxy and the adventurers will go there knowing they can find one to heal mind wounds.

I thought it was a pretty good idea, what do you all think?

Not fond of that idea hon. Let them pack themselves into one or two cantina and let them hologrind to their heart's content. If they're all in one or two places, and the people who don't care about anything but stats can really entertain in some other places.

Of course, if we could get them to allow us to register our location on adventure planets, this would be a HUGE benefit.

Heyas Eetiaca, nice to see a concerned Flurry entertainer posting on the forumns simply trying to better our profession and server. C'ike hit it right on the ball, at least in my opinion. If the registering of cantinas ever get fixed up, it can help the overcrowding. Will it work? It might, but I truly believe its up to the entertainment community of your server. Whose not to say that the cantina that is registered is empty and across the galaxy, say for example in Theed Cantina, there are tons of live entertainers simply having a good time by entertaining the patrons. I could be wrong there (please correct me if I am), but just a thought. Anyways, I like to see other people's opinions of cantina overcrowding in general.

It's not so much the overcrowding that bothers me, it's the spam some people can generate. "Heal me please, I'm AFK." or "Invite me to a group if I'm not in one". I just wish that people can be considerate enough of other entertainers that they would think twice about putting a /say or emote in their macro.

I agree so wholeheartedly it hurts my neck from the nodding.

Those people are only hurting themselves. When I'm in the cantina, people with spam like that in their macros get immediately added to my ignore list. Uh-oh, guess what? Often, because I am at the keyboard, I end up the group leader. And guess who won't get invited to my group, or trained when they ask, or directed to a trainer, or anything else? Right, the spammers who I put on /addignore.

And it's not because I'm a "group Nazi" or a vindictive b*tch. It's because they were spamming, so I ignored them, and now I can't hear them. Pretty simple really.

I agree, the use a /say messages in people's macros is annoying beyond limit. In fact, I rather liked one delightfully eeeeevilidea from one of our fellow entertainers, that we invite them to our group, make them group leader and disband, therefore clumping them all together in one happy AFK family **laughs** As for cantina overcrowding, I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this, but it appears the AFK infection has spread to the adventure planets as well. For the past week I have been performing mainly on the adventure planets, and still find the small cantinas and taverns packed with macro spamming AFKers **shrugs**. Its a frustrating business to be performing LIVE somewhere, only to have some buff bot not only cramp your style, butdecrease your value as a performer and the chance to ply the trade you worked so hard to achieve. Personally, I'd rather all the bots stay in one placewhere they can all/wink and /blow bubbles at each other, and leave the further reaching places of the galaxyto the true troubadors**winks**

It is very annoying and it is not just on Flurry. Personally I ignore anyone who is shouting or saying something in their macro. I will let them know how annoying it is before ignoring them. If they need training and I happen to be the only non afk one there, or at least non afk one there that can train, well they are just out of luck and are going to have to pay for it since I wont be able to hear a word they are saying

I agree absolutely with the afk text macro's asking for tips / heals whatever when afk i find completely rude, i used toreally dislikeafk'ers when i did dancing first time round, now on 5th time i feel guilty as hell going afk to dance some while i sleep, i run into a corner out of sight and never ever have a text macro. (yet i still feel wiht the amount of dancing ive done i have a small right to do so )

I dislike any text macro while dancing, socialising in cantina and seeing the spam every min usually has me put them on ignore, its not the best solution but only one i can come up with.

The best solution in my opinion would be to find a fix to afk dancing (maybe have the autoafk > kick from game thing allways work, even while macro'ing)
