Thread: An idea for dancer craftables and Theatres
Oh and another theatre concern while I'm at it.
I vaguely remember dev talk awhile ago of making theatres public only buildings.
Frankly I think that would be incredibly dumb, since the only area affected by privacy is back stage, which should be allowed to be private during performances. I can just imagine trying to give a performance and having some idiot run on stage to spoil it, simply because he can just walk back stage any time he likes, with no way for me to prevent it.
We want props and the Devs said they liked the idea.
We want the Theater fixed because... duh. hehe.
Having the back be private is a very good idea though, I like that a lot.
You know what I think could be a cool craftable? Recorded performances...
Stick with me here...
An Entertainer can record a performance to "disc" and then sell them. They have a limited use (say 2 or 3) but act as "remote Mind damage healers" for people out in the field. Players purchase a performance disc and, when they're in their camp, they can use it to heal small amounts of Mind in much the same way as Wound Packs work for Health/Action. Obviously, they wouldn't heal as rapidly or as well as a "live" performance (maybe they just reduce BF?) but it would be an interesting thing for entertainers to hawk...

Thanks for hijacking my idea MonkeyofDoom ![]()
Can't say I think much of that idea either.
I don't want my profession turned into a crafting drudgery so that fighter types can get fixed a little more conveniently.

If I remember correctly, that idea has come up a couple of times in the forums, and no-one's ever been too enthusiastic about them.. In fact, some were downright hostile. Now a holographic partner to dance with, that would be neat
I've been liking the idea of performance holorecordings from a roleplaying standpoint (adding a measure of fame to the professions, and some possible extra income), so long as they're limited enough to not replace performers with machines. But now I'm wondering if that wouldn't make it even harder for the next generation of entertainers to advance in their professions.
It's likely that only Masters' holodiscs would sell well at all (which is to be expected), but would that take keep people out of cantinas even more? Leaving less business for struggling young performers? Maker knows it's hard enough to advance as an ATK performer as it is...
Just a thought.
Well it would be really cool if the person using the holorecording sees a miniature or flickery image of you doing your performance, and actually has to watch it. Just like Princess Leia projected out of R2D2 ("Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope").
However, you KNOW that's not how this would be implemented. Sure we would have fun recording our little holodiscs, but the consumer would use it and just get a system message..."You use the holodisc and a portion of your wounds and fatigue are healed." Ppppllbbbtttt. (That's a raspberry in case you couldn't tell.) ![]()
I guess what I was remembering was people being worried that people would only buy the recordings and abandon the cantinas/live performers...
