Okay so I'm getting a bit frustrated. I successfully bid on a clothing attachment that was +2 to dancing mind enhancement only to have the person running the auction never deliver the item. I just triedanother auction for a +3 but when the price reached 700K I decided it was too steep. So here's an idea I'd like to throw out there and see what others think. What if instead of having this as a loot drop for killing some being, they were instead a rare award for entertainer specific missions. Meaning instead of the 100credit payout every once in a blue moon you had the chance of having the "reward placed in your inventory"? Combat players take Janta missions at the terminals in hopes of looting something valuable. Why can't entertainers take entertainer missions in the hopes of being awarded something valuable? {plus they could be used by everyone regardless of species or gender unlike the leotard loot we got from Jabba}

Yeah, they're stupid expensive.
It'd be nice if we got something similar to what females get with the leotard, but for mind enhancement, and everyone could use it.
I'd like to get some buff enhancing SA's, but no way am I paying that much.

I do like the idea, on cursory examination, that specific mission types have a random roll akin to a loot drop, that could place an item in your inventory. Entertainer and Artisan mission terminals for one could use, I think, some chances for loot drops. As things stand now, all items of this nature come in through the combat professions, as loot after a kill. This is not necessarilythe only method of dispersal of such items.
It would of course make sense that new terminal mission loot tables were created, with algorithms for drop rates from within those tables. The algorithms could likely just be lifted from the standard combat loot drop rates, with table look ups modified as needed. The loot tables would have to be subsets (but unique tables) of loots already found in game, but with appropriate items on the tables - i.e., no weapon or armor drops, etc. Trouble is... SEAs. As of now, an SEA drops and the skill mod is totally random from across all possible mods. There would seem to be no simple way to have only skill mods appropriate to entertainers or artisans drop from these random checks, but perhaps random rolls would provide us with something to sell back into the economy as well?
Well, fun thought for brainstorming nevertheless. It would be nice to see some other method of lootses getting into the hands of more players than just the combat side of things... and somewhere in here is an idea for just that. I like it.

Well, theoretically once bots phase out prices should go back down to normal.
Pre-bot explosion I got my +15 tape for 3mil and that was a rather high offer buyout. I saw someone get a +16 for 1.6mil because I couldn't afford to bid against and also get a +15 for 1.6 mil from the same person (these are the prices I based my buyout offer on when I made it).
So the current 1mil per point prices are not a reflection of what the entertainer community values them at, but what the buff-bot..uhm.. community?..values them at.
So once the people who are interested go back to being the starving artists who can't afford 1mil per point and don't have a 23/7 steady income of triple or quadruple digits a day with no effort... The market should even out.
*Should*, though....the dynamics of multiple accounts still throws a wrench in any true comparison to real world economics so we can just sit back and hope.
And there is hope.

heh i thought about this the other night ... there does need to be some more quests that result in dancer/musician related items ... even some sort of hand held item ... that doesnt look like a weapon that has some sort of bonus' on it for enhancement ... and/or bf / wound ... make it the final result from a themepark that only entertainers can do ...

I have the backing of my PA to purchase myself into 125%, so I will pay what's needed to get me there as soon as possible.
+5 is going to cost me 10mil, I believe.
(I hope not, but If I need to, I'll pay it)

Well I don't expect to see buff bots go anytime soon. I also do not think they are the sole reason CA are so expensive. There are plenty of towns/guilds that are in competition to outfit their dancers as well and they can quickly outbid those of us who can't pass the hat around to people with millions tucked away. Well perhaps some where down the line the devs could consider this a possibility.

Now imagine bidding on a plus 7 attachment, being down 500k on the bidding, asking your husband for help buying it until you can pay them back. Then have them bid on it with the intention of using it on a buff bot, but giving 2 plus 1's that the auctioner threw to you. I can't say what would have happened since he didn't win.
