Look guys. I dont ask you to agree with me on everything I say. But keep something in mind.. discussion of our role in SWG is the best thing we can have. Following the party line of blaming buffbots for all our problems is simply burying our heads in the sand, does no one any good and hurts our Profession as a whole.
In the first several months of SWG being online we Dancers had onlyONE Game Mechanics function within the game....healing BF. Yet Entertaining was one of the most popular and fun profession to play.
How did the advent of buffing take all that way from us? And how did the advent of Buffbots take it away?
I AGREE with you that buffbots have damaged the profession. I never said they hadnt. But I DONT agree that buffing is the only way we can make a living unless you discount the first 6 months or so of the entertainment profession in SWG as some bizarre fluke.
And is pointing this out some kind of heresy??
Am I being condescending when I point out that there are other ways to pursue the profession besides buffing?? Apparently so.
A lot of the new players weren't around before the advent of buffs. A lot of them have no idea of what our profession can do BESIDES buffing. Everyone has gotten SO caught up in the anti-buffbot craze that we're neglecting everything else the profession stands for.
Is That what we're being reduced to? A Buffing profession??
You can delete my messages and lock threads. But some of us know that there is more to life as aDancerthan buffing 13 yr olds so they can go kill things.,
And some of us think that Discussing and Debating our role in SWG is a good thing.
A mind is like a book. Its only useful when its open.

I personally don't hate buffbots in particular, but AFK "play" (I use the term play extermely loosely) in general, which buffbots are a part of. After all, what's the point of the game if you're not going to play it? The sea of AFKers cause lag, which makesvisiting the Cantinas unpleasent for many players, while cutting into tips as the ATK players (who are actually playing the game)get lost in the crowd.
As for buffs and buffbots, I feel the game would be a better place without both. I consider buffs in almost all forms (save for Spice buffs, which have downers to balance them out),to beamong themost flawed parts of the game. Buffing is certainly not the only way to make a living, andI'd happily say, "nerf the elite entertainer professions and take away buffs entirely". Hopefully the combat balance will see a major revision to buffs.

My REAL objection to buffbots and the AFKers is not their Buffing but their Spamming. Becasue the spam makes it difficult ot impossible to conduct public conversations unles Everyone puts them on ignore.
During the Holo craze the cantinas were uninhabitable unless you spent 5 mins adding 2-3 dozen names to the ignore list after entering.

It's all in the way it's presented, Eucy. I just reread a few posts and have become very tired of the backbiting between entertainers. I am losing respect for some people here -not because of what is being saidin this forum but the way it's being said.
People can defend their "right" to say what they want toall they want to. No one, myself included, has the right to be rude, condesending or divisive.
Sigh . . . I don't want to debate this . . . we can have differing views. However, having an opposing opinion is no higher a calling than holding to a general concensus.

When a thread contains generalizations and rude comments like this:
Is That what we're being reduced to? A Buffing profession??
You can delete my messages and lock threads. But some of us know that there is more to life as aDancerthan buffing 13 yr olds so they can go kill things.,
It will get removed most likely. I personally have a master dancer so don't think I'm just trying to quiet you
Just do not generalize negatively on other playstyles in your attempt to make your point.
