Thread: tumble choppy trouble figuring out how many secs to pause between flourish

Has anyone figured out how long each florish should run for tumble? I am having a hard time stringing it together - seems very choppy between each florish.

I'm having the same problem and lag is playing havoc with it. everytime I think I have figured out a good pause length, it fails. going to take me a while to play with it. As soon as I get anything reliable I'll post it.

but it probably won't be until tomorrow.

cheers,

Hmm... this makes me think...

I don't know that there is a database anywhere that lists the flourish timings for all the previous dances. If there is, I'd appreciate a link. If not (and I suspect there is not) perhaps we could generate one. I'd be willing to donate some of my timings for the older dances.

Here is the thread about Goldy's Dance Cards. The clicky is still live. Not in a database format but the durations are notated.

Yeah I just tried out tumble for the first time today (been working insane hours at work) - I absolutely love it! I just kind of accept that my timing is off, and if it looks okay to me, it probably looks lousy to my audience. I've never had much luck with exact pause macros so I just mash buttons

I'm not approaching tumble from a perspective of stringing flos but from where the flos will fit smoothly in the base (but I'm another button masher &don't use many macros at all). With the base dances looking so awesome now, I'm re-doing Everything with transitioning between bases and flos, smoothly and without whip, as my priority. I figure that as I learn where things fit together, what combinations work well for positioning will become more apparent.

Yes..that's what I've been referring to as whip. I don't have any idea who coined the term but we've been batting it around for ages in reference to the quick spin you see at the end of a flourish if it doesn't transition well back into the base or the beginning of the next flourish. On most dances avoiding whip seems related to calling the flo at a time when the end will transition well back to the base. However, whenmixing dances(Exotic 3 as an example) it is also influenced by at what point in the base of the first dance you /changed to the second dance.

I've not seen another dancer yet so hadn't seen that the base dances looked good! I hope to get together with some of them this weekend so I can see what they look like. I'm nota good "button masher" because I get easily lost in people's conversations. But I'm always changing things up rather than just looping the same 3 or 4 moves over and over and over again. Just wish I were a faster typist

I created a little tumble/exotic dance macro and used 9.5 as a pause between flo 2

then before changing dance to exotic I used pause 11 so that the tumble base dance would start in just about the same spot everytime.

So far it's working well, though I haven't tried adding in anymore tumble florishes except that particular one.

What I noticed is that right before I changed to another florish my toon did this "jerk" motion - so am trying to figure out where in the base dance you would florish so as not to get this effect.

Perhaps we could benefit from a sticky thread where dancers (if willing to share their special performance secrets) could post their macros/aliases for various combinations of flos, timing and dances. I'm not very good with creating my own macros (although I did work on one for Theatrical for 2 hours prior to the base "fix") - I'm more of a button masher. But, I'd love to have some options available - especially for group dances.

Anyone willing to start it?(Master Tiaga . . . . ?)

A few of us tried to get a thread like that going but not many people posted. It was titled Dance Combos and died a quick death. I had thought that maybe people weren't posting because they didn't want to post macros so I just posted my timings for one of the dances but even that didn't prompt any further posts:
