Whatpoint doyou think Don Mclean is trying to make with "American Pie"?
At first I think he's talking about the death of JFK, but then when I think about it more I think maybe he's talking about when Jim Morrison died... I dunno.
So what do you think?

It's a metaphor for sex.
American pie = female virginity
Chevy = male sex organ
Levy = female sex organ
good old boys drinking = foreplay
"this'll be the day that I die" = losing virginity
That or it's a comentary on sending troops off to a foriegn country for war.... I am leaning towards the sex though.

Losing virginity is sometimes painful both emotionally and phsyically.
The music dying would be talking about the anxiety and peer pressure to lose the viriginity.
I think mainly though my mind is always in the gutter.

Although I have to agree with Else on that one. It's pretty much a metaphor for sex and losing ones' virginity. Seeing how I have a permanent residence in the gutter, there isn't much that gets said where I don't relate it somehow to sex, lol.
