Hello there fellow dancers.

I recently discovered the fun in doing formal with a male dancer, and ideas of a grand ballet performance have been growing in my head. Course there are several issues I have some problems with. I've read Sultrina's dance guide (thanks a bunch!) but I'm still having trouble withmoving around on the dancefloor.

So far what we've been trying to do is hit a bandflo whenever the two characters are closest together, which sometimes turns out just great (if you have a good sense of lag) but other times we'll get too close and move through eachother or end up drifting too far apart. And if we have to wait too long for the characters to "match" up again at a certain point, the "airplaning" of the basic step of formal kills the image.

I expect alot of the moving through eachother problems can be solved with practise though, possible try in a large house somewhere and put things on the ground where the starting point would be.

But what I'd also like to do is for the characters to actually split up on purpose somewhere, for example I move left to do the "slide on knees, put head back twice flo" while he moves right during the same bandflo. And then move backto the original starting point without having to stop dancing. Is there a way to point your character in a certain direction during a flourish and make her move back? Or possibly another solution?

I hope that made sense!

One of my sisters and I like to do formal/lyrical together and we usually start facing each other. Then by smiling at each other every once in a while it will correct us facing each other. Another thing that looks nice is to scroll out into third person, swing the camera around 180 degrees, the opposite way and zoom to first causing you to be back to back. Or if one does it you'll both face the same way now. Works great when you have gotten to close to each other. You can play with this only using 90 degrees and just do it long enough to get in positions you like better. Just try to keep no one targetted, seems less of a drift if self targetted or no target at all.

Sen,

If you want to turn your avitar without scrolling all the way into first person, turn on your follow camera. When you zoom out you will always be behind yourself, and when you turn the camera you also turn your avatar.

I'm finding this VERY useful in my attempt to stay out of the way while I'm ginding with Formal.

Thanks Paladin, I didn't know that is what that did. Which key is it again? I find I always hit it by mistake while talking!

My favorites for couple dancing:

For two women or two men: Exotic2 back to back, with bandflourishes.

For a woman and a man: Man does Exotic2 and woman does Exotic4, or vice-versa.

Lyrical and Formal, though they are the most fun dances to do as a couple, are the most problematic when it comes to placement because of dancer drift. I think Raven mentioned at one point that the devs felt it was very difficult to fix.

Having a small group of people sychronizing is even more fun than just couples because you can start doing neato patterns. Like for 5 people, have one person in the center of a square formed by the other four. Center person does exotic 2, other four do exotic 3.

Or with two couples you can have the guys doing one dance, ladies doing another.

Ooooo Davlin thanks for the kind words. Couple dancing is posible and still have it look good but there is a lot of small print that comes with that statement. I have a few projects I need to complete, The Acadamy, A new thing Im callign Sultrina's dream works and some unfinished projects in my Skunk Works file (stuff I wont share dont ask). When that is done I plan to revisit the bandflourish comand with both a male and female partner and then post some really nice goodies on this. I have to get the Acadamy running first though becasue if my partners cant dance my way they wont keep up!
