Don't expect any money
Don't expect any respect for you as a fellow player from anyone but other entertainers

Expect to meet some "dance for me beetch" jerks

Don't think we are you're new best friends because your holocron told you to do this and move on, as fast as Macrotaining will allow you to do.

If you have fun dancing while at the keyboard, a very warm welcome to the world of entertainment

Don't listen to the jaded folks. The entertainer profession is a lot of fun, you just have to enjoy it.

Find a good cantina with some regulars who are not AFK and you'll have a blast daily. Some of the smaller towns (but not tiny ones) are good. The larger ones are full of AFKs though. Certainly depends on the server.

So far my favourite cantina on Eclipse has to Bestine, nearly all the entertainers there are actually at their keyboard! So its hardly ever dull.

*waves to Onit, Foxtrip, Phobius, Kleedo, Yelisar, Iber' and the rest I forgot, feel free to hassle me aboutthat later*

But uhm if you're going to just macro your way up... I recommend Theed on Eclipse, huge groups alot of experience.

i would tell everyone you see that you got a holocron, and it told you to go for dancer. i've heard on the jedi forums that one guy has about 40 people surrounding him constantly, healing him, and giving him ent healing xp

it could certainly make your grind a lot easier

I heard, that if you AFK macro Dance once you are instructed to learn Master Dancer via Holocron it can invalidate your FS slot, so the best thing might be to not AFK while dancing?

Bwahahaha! That's great.

But who am I to say that's false? If the rumors I hear are correct and that there may be some interaction with special NPCs (and I bet there is a database of all characters who have opened a holocron), then AFK dancing could end up hurting you.

It's hard to disagree with the jaded posts. I really hope that you end up enjoying Dancing and making the most of it. At least you didn't enter the forum with, "God, I have to dance with you faeries. Let's hurry up and get it over with." That's a positive.

Since some people will be trying Dancer or Musician in the hopes of getting that Force Sensitive slot, we will be seeing people joining us in the cantinas who don't want to be there. A lot of us have told the AFK macrobots, "If you don't like Entertaining, then why'd you even take the profession?" Yeah, well, here is one reason, and it likely will be a plague for the serious Entertainers.

So, it behooves us to share our XP-gaining secrets for one of the following reasons:
A. You are serious about Dancing and want to get the advanced dances and moves and experiment with them while learning some nice tricks when interacting with the patrons.
B. You want to quickly become Master, and you don't want to hang around the cantina. We Entertainers don't want these people around either, so I'll be happy to send those people along their way.

As people have said, to get the XP, you want to join large groups in busy cantinas. Theed and Coronet are great for that. There is an art to timnig flourishes to maximize XP for your action burned. What is the formula? I cannot say for certain. For example, when I'm getting 25 xp, I'll wait until I start getting 17 xp or so before I do another flourish. Naturally, if a medic is healing you, flourish all you want. No reason to save your Action.

In essence, I'd say that you choose between XP and tips. In small locales, you tend to see more tips, but you get less XP. In large cantinas, you get crazy XP, but your tips are split between the performers. Of course, if you are the only non-AFK Dancer in Theed, then those people who exclusively tip non-AFKers will give you their money.

If you are one who is looking to just AFK through the profession in the hopes of unlocking the Force Sensitive slot, then please be responsible. Dance in the corner (if you're part of a group, you still get the XP) and do not insert spam into your macros. No fake smiles or conversations. If you're at the keyboard, then smile and flirt all you want. If not, people will appreciate it if you are quiet and out of the way.

That's my contribution anyway.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.

Yeah, I heard that same thing: AFK Macrotainers are never going to be Jedi.

Sob. That means I am doomed to remain a lowly non-FS character.

Did I miss something here....where in this post does Lowkey say he is going to be AFK Macrotaining? Just because someone is doing dance because it is in their holocorm is no reason to flame them is it? Some people DO play the game to actually PLAY the game.

Congratz on the holocrom, and good luck unlocking your FS slot.

Conclusions were jumped to. It is my hope that they are the wrong conclusions.

Lowkey indicated that he is turning his eyes to Dancing for the first time because of the Holocron. His motivation is different than the rest of us. But maybe he'll try it out and say, "Hey, this is pretty fun. I should have tried this months ago." Since he came here for advice, I have hope.

But there will be people who just want to get it over with so they can go play Jedis. Those people will want to AFK macro. Frankly, I want them to AFK macro so I don't have to hear them dancing next to me while grumbling about how stupid he looks. Is Lowkey one of these people? I hope not.

After the recent big patch, a few servers were down. People complained on this forum about other players creating new characters as entertainers just to be jerks. These people didn't care about the profession and were just passing the time until their servers were up. That was just one or two days. Imagine seeing that for a whole week.

I hope to see that Lowkey enjoys the profession and interacts well with the patrons. If he doesn't enjoy it, then I hope he will be respectful to other performers. Sure, AFK performing is annoying, but it can be done responsibly. So I encourage responsible AFKness if he doesn't enjoy the profession and is just going through the motions to fulfill a Holocron obligation.

But Lowkey doesn't sound like a jerk, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I guess it's easy to assume AFKness because a lot of Entertainers don't care enough about their profession to work for it. If I am insulting, I apologize.

Have fun, Lowkey!

I as well hope that you aren't one of the AFK-botters, but the fact that you're talking on the forums, leads me to believe you may actually put up with the hassle of actually dancing.

Good luck in your endeavors, and perhaps dancing will truly let you be one step closer to the final goal.

As for advice, setup a simple macro of flourishes if you're going to be at the keyboard. That leaves you available to actually talk to the patrons of the Cantina.
