Thread: Has the mind buff been nerfed?

I've had a lot of problems with my mind buff lately, specifically since the last big monthly patch. I used to /setperform on someone, ask them to watch from the radial, then dance for 6 minutes with flourishes every 15 seconds or so, and light effects thrown in at random. At the end of the six minutes I tell them to stop watching. This would give them a 100% buff which lasted two hours.

Lately, doing this same procedure results in a 100% buff that lasts only an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. What gives?? I even tried upping it to 8 minutes recently, without any improvement. I don't see most people being willing to sit and watch for 10 or (gulp!) 15 minutes to get a mind buff. Am I doing something wrong, or did we get nerfed?

Thought about it a little, and I think part of the problem is the exotic4 dance, it's the highest so I want to use it, but the flourishes in it (especially flourish 1) are sooooo slow. A lot of times when my macro (I use a flourish macro so I can continue to chat etc. while dancing) hits the next flo I'm still in the midst of one, so it gets skipped. Would doing more light effects help?

Another idea...recently when I do these mind buffs I'm often fully health- and action-buffed by my in-game husband, who is a master doctor. If the effectiveness/length of the buff is tied to action expended, does the fact that I'm buffed and not seeing any action drop at all negatively impact the mind buff?

I feel certain we got a stealth nerf! Conspiracy!

The only factor other than time should be the number of flourishes. If you're throwing smoke bombs and dazzles and stuff in there then you're just wasting your action. That won't help your buffing.

Given that flourishes are the most influential thing, it might help to choose a dance with short flourishes. You do have to watch for about ten minutes to get the full two hour buff. Just tell your customers to be patient.
