Thread: Regretfully, I've taken the plunge...

Well, fellow dancers, I've done it, I've given up my mastery of the profession.

This lack week has caused me to do a lot of thinking, and I seem to have come up against quite a few walls. It, of course, all began with TH's response to the musician buffing question. That didn't make me very happy to say the least. As my mind stewed over this the past couple of weeks, and I met more and more people mastering dancer in order to provide a buffbot, I realized that our usefulness is pretty much gone. Then tonight, I had the shock of my life in guildchat when I realized that there were a good number of people that thought of entertainers as useless, some even said they thought we shouldn't be able to buff ourselves. I still have hard time comprehending exactly why they felt this way or why they would want to prevent us from having something that is rightfully ours. But, the viewpoints were right there, staring at me in the face.

So, I admit, I let it get to me and even though I didn't exactly "lash" out at them, I made a decision. Being one of two master dancers in the group, and the one that is on much more than the other, I have come to be depended on for my buffs, most of which I do for free. Yet, at the same time, I get hit with viewpoints that they hit me with. It was quite devastating to me, because I used to have a lot of love for this guild and was very loyal. I kind of feel a bit blindsided by the whole thing. Not all of them felt that way, of course, some *were* quite supportive. But, there were a good number who weren't. As such, I've given up the buffing gig. They had it easy before finding a mind buff whenever they wanted it. I think it's time they figure out how hard it is for me when I'm trying to find a mindbuff.

So, this little reality check, coupled with TH's answer and the upsurge in buffbots made me decide it's time for me to depart the mastery of this profession. I actually kept all of my knowledge tree in order to be able to perform with my troupe. But, everything else is gone, and I'll be picking up some skills that I am actually able to use on *myself* just like every other profession gets. So, I'll still be on these forums contributing to the discussions. After all, I still love dancing. But, I'll no longer be buffing or able to heal like I used to. The dancing will be saved for performances and those times when I just feel like dancing.

As for my guild, well, that's going to take some more thinking on my part. Up until tonight, I loved being in this guild. But, this may be time for me to make a change in that regard as well. No decisions have been made, but I've started some thinking. But, if the thinking of certain members of my guild, whom I respected and was very loyal to, is any indication of the overall playerbase, then I have truly been very blind. And, I don't see our plight getting better when the general population feels the way that they do.

So, I'm still dancing, just dropped the other 3 trees. I can't give up dancing just yet, I love it too much. But, I may be headed in that direction as well at some point should I decide I want to master something else that requires those skill points. On the other hand, should the devs ever get their head out of their <expletive deleted> in regards to the self buffing issue, I may be back in full force. Until then...hmm, maybe I'll pick up something the devs consider useful.

*sobs* Noooooo! *clings to Drygos's ankle*

If we keep losing all of the Social Dancers, how will we ever get fixed? *deep depression*

*cough* Ok, mildly recovered. Please stay active on the forums! Please try to keep the Dances as long as you can... it's just too awful to think of you not doing something I know you love so much. As Jessi would say:

Dropping = Verboten

My 3rd most played girl after Panthu TC and Panthu Starsider dropped down to a Dance Knowledge Dabbler... it's been fun for me, though I really miss buffing with her. Like I told Jessi when she dropped on Antigone last week, as long as you can keep Novice Ent, we'll be ok. I'll come boogie Basic with you till we get fixed.

You'll be doing basic for a while then, because the game dev doesn't think anything about entertainers needs to be fixed.

Niza, don't be smug dear... I know you've been calling for a change for a long time. I'm hoping that we can all pull together and be open to many options that could revitalize this Profession. The Crafters are feeling snubbed just as much as we are... they just happen to have a lot more content and economy to play with till their fixes come.

Medics and Scouts are in the same boat... we all want a revamp. Maybe we had to fall into botland to get attention. *shrug*

I think they'll come around as soon as we all have one voice... we might not all have the same opinions, but we all really love this Profession and its potential. They can't ignore that forever.

I've pretty much decided the same really. I just haven't done it right away. I mean to keep my dance knowledge trees. But I've been looking into some of the smuggling lines and the upcoming force-sensitive lines , thinking that perhaps some of those might lend more of the original intended feel of my character as I wrote her. The Scout skills will go first. Then the Dance Healing skills, box by box as I need the points. If master dancing really does snap back and become worth paying attention to by the devs once the Jedi Hologrind goes away, it won't be THAT hard to return to.

It's a damn shame all the same.

This is like a mass sucide of the profession as we each fall one by one. Almost all of the people that loved the profession that I started with have quit it, and shortly thereafter, the game itself...
