Ok, there is a paradox here, we're one of the most social professions and we're being ignored. I'm reading alot of what is pissing me off with a profession I've loved being in since Nov. Let's not complain, let's do something about it.

Wookies got armor by organzing resistance to developers ignoring them, let's do the same. Sign here if you are will to post and email the developers until we send them such a massive headache that they actually do some thing to imporve our state.

Let's sign up, get ideas, and put Bayer back in the fortune 500, until we get our side fixed...

Are you with me?

First idea, let's retake our unique place in the game. Let's have a petition to completely exclude entertainer and the elite entertainer professions for the jedi quest. If no jedi grinder can make jedi by being a dancer, entertainer, image designer, or musician we can get the afk macro zombies out of our cantinas.

Do you guys think this is a good idea?

I do not think it is a good idea. First, petitions don't work. Second, it's misplaced energy. Why? Because the holos are going away anyhow in two months (ish) and there is no way that it is ever going to happen faster than that. Third, it won't get rid of the AFK Macro Zombies, it will only get rid of the Jedi Grinders. The latter is a subset of the former.

Bad news on that, I've heard they'll still grind 24 professions. If so, many believe the entertainer professions are the easiest tog rind, because they can do it at work. I think we should really look at addressing this permanently.

No other profession set has been hit as hard as the entertainers and our elite related classes. In november, we did have grinding AFK dancers, but spamming got you kicked from the band, so it stopped the behavior, now it's the norm and we're losing people that love the profession left and right.

Our core value to the game as designed by SOE was social interaction. Hologrinders have killed that. There is no evidence that this will stop and Jedi are given a much higher priority than us. Reread, there is no evidence this will stop and Jedi have been given a higher priority by the developers.

We either address this or we could be looking at nothing more than three day masters in a month. This isn't a profession that most people keep once their holoquesting.

This is a game, but it is also a business. To effectively deal with business problems, sometimes you literally have to show it will effect the bottom line. Our professions slow death has had a negative impact on social structure.

Have you ever seen a player town that had people constantly in it, that didn't have a dancer or musician there? There may be, but the most successful ones, have social caretakers there, mind healing and talking to those who come there.

We are one of the most valuable professions in the game. It's time issues that literally abuse the profession get addressed.

Jedi might heal their own Battle fatigue, but there alts cannot. That's our domain...

Actually, they can heal others' BF as well... faster than we do too.

I'm with Electro... I don't really understand what this is meant to prove. I have a poll on changing our healing to attended only that the Devs might actually consider.

Have you voted in it? We are encouraged by the Devs to bring them Poll results... not petitions. Your points will be better made coming with everyone else's.

We already are. If you discount hologrinders and those who took up the profession just to AFK and buff their friends and guildmates, and take only real entertainers who enjoy the social aspect into account, I'm pretty sure my server has no more than 50. I'm pretty sure we have significantly more Jedi than true entertainers.

Wookies also far outnumber us, so their voice was heard.

If you want to actually build a petition, here's my advice.

1) Host it on a website outside of this one. This one is partisan by nature, and does not allow those entertainers who have left to have a voice.
2) Have people sign their real names. Real people pay the salaries of those at SOE, not avatars.
3) Focus on ONE important issue, and not one that's already being addressed, like the hologrinder issue which is already slated to go away. It has to be an important issue and one that other players can understand and support, because...
4) You'll need to get a lot of people outside the entertainer community to sign this thing. Realistically speaking, we're probably not even a fraction of a percent in their customer base by ourselves.
5) Heavily advertise the existence of the petition.

Do that and perhaps a petition might gain some attention. Posts like this, however, will be forgotten and ignored within a few weeks.

What does this mean? Does this mean that the new system will require the grinding of 24 professions? I'm not trying to start any rumors, just asking for clarification because I don't understand what you're saying here. If this is true, I might as well just give up now and cancel.

No Drygo, this is just a rumor. The real Dev feedback on this has been that no one will have to do a Prof they don't choose to for progression. We do not know details on the quests yet because they are meant to be a surprise. The Devs do not want "spoilers" out there yet.

I can not say yet if the quests will be equally do-able from all Professions... this was the intention, but I'm not sure if it actually turned out this way. I do know that the idea of encouraging the Mastery of a Profession who's intended playstyle is not your preferred has been scrapped.

It seems very unlikely that the Devs would encourage anyone to fly through Masteries after Pub 10. From 9-10, you can still build up FS Credit this way, but not unlock.

signing this would be like condemning dancer at its current state...

it needs work, but there's hope. the profession doesn't die until we give up on it. I wouldn't suggest giving them headaches either, they might all take sick days O.o
