Thread: AFK Spam
What annoys me most is rude or stupid spam. Prime examples are "Watch me, I can heal your mind wounds" ( DOH!,obviously... are you stupid or do you think I am ? ), "heal" ( how about /whisper "Heal me please if my action is low" ? It's the same level of spam, but at least it's polite. ).
I also have met people who know they were annoying, but insisted on doing it just because they could. I met someone who said he had this repetitive line in his macro because it kept him from getting booted while afk. I told him that instead of spamming this stupid line, he could just /tell himself something, which keeps him in the game and doesn't bother anyone else. After testing my suggestion, he said it works, but he'd rather have the macro annoy people.
If I notice macro spammers, I do /spam the first 10 times and then /report the offender. Then I put him on addignore. Sadly, as always, ignoring the problem does not solve it at all. It only blurs the symptoms.
>How is cantina spam any different than any player event were many people are gathered in a small space carrying on multiple conversations with each other?
In terms of game mechanics, there is no difference. I have to follow my own line of communication. However, listening to someone called buffchick saying "invite me plz i have autojoin (macro)" is destroying immersion like very few other things could.

So really, it has nothing to do with the amount of text lines scrolling through your window,it's just a roleplay thing?
>Please share your secrets of how to enjoy yourself amidst a whole lot of spacial flooding.
Get out of there...
I was referring to player events. If everybody got out of there it wouldn't be much of an event.
Immersion is supposed to be the biggest block this game is supposed to stand on. A chance to play in the star wars world.
It's not Diablo, or War Craft, or Fallout: Brother Hood of Steel. Those are MMO.
Star wars is an MMORPG and that RPG makes it different. Roleplayers are looked down on but the game is supposed to be roleplayed. And roleplaying isn't all that hard- it's simply make believe that you are in a different world. That you are not you. For a brief moment you are someone who doesn't know what a Cell phone is, but knows what a Com unit is. And certainly you can answer a com unit.
People spamming over... and over... is like... oh... that three year old in the middle of a stor going
Mommy I want that! Mommy I want that! Mommy I want that! Mommy I want that! Mommy I want that!
After a little bit... it's annoying. So people who stand for 3 hours "TRAINING IN ALL MARKSMEN SKILLS! PST SELLING HOLOCRON PST" is simply unrealistic in the real world. People don't do that. And there is a difference in a 'bazzar' and some lunatic shouting that he can train in all bounty hunter skills. And how about the ones who intentionally say soething 3 times in a row so that it will fill the spatial so they are SURE to be heard... and do it every 60 seconds.
There is no difference between AFK and ATK spam really. Spam is spam, and no matter how much mustard you put on it, the stuff will always be spam. But Yes "Heal. Invite me. (macro) tip me (macro)" Ruins immersion. Immersion is the point of an RPG.

Why does it seem like every post you make in this board is intended to start a fight? Haven't there been enough threads about this you could read and figure out how everyone feels about it?
Go post your useless crap on somebody elses thread.

likewise.
while you're at it, please stay out of the dancer forum if you don't have anything constructive to say, ever.
Its like this:
Player Event dialouge is kind of like the real chatter you get at sporting events or large gatherings. Things being said by people in the spirit of the moment.
Macroed spam is like the things you hear if you leave your phone off the hook for long enough. Like, "If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again. If you need help, please dial your operator." Or its like a roller coaster ride, where they just keep repeating, "For your safety, please keep your hands and feet inside the car at all times." OVER and OVER and OVER again. ad nauseum. Made by people? Yes. Administered by a machine to get some point across? Yes. Annoying? CERTAINLY.
