Thread: A change in how macro's work?

Not sure about this one, I've only just logged on and tried it today, could just be me or something. But has anyone heard a change in macro's?

Now, I'm a full 100% atk entertainer, and usually, other than for buffing people, I don't use macros for dances and such. The only thing I do use macro's for is a neat little quick costume change. Using smokebomb and then ui action commands to equip the right clothes, and hence in a puff of smoke, I've changed outfits. Done this today, and it works fine, however, there's a delay. So I get the smokebomb, and the first items equips, and I'm left standing there semi naked, and after a few seconds, the next one pops on, then the next.

I'm not normally one to complain about things, believing things will get fixed etc. But this change has, well, ruined something I and a lot of people who saw it, thought was great. No more quick costume changes for me that make people go oooohh and aaaahh. I'm never quick enough using the hotkeys myself to make it look effective enough.

What's the reasoning behind this?

Oh, and not that it probably makes any difference to air my feelings, but this, coupled with the whole 'badge incident' has really got me disheartened and contemplating dropping dancer.

Check to make sure the 'clothing' you're putting on is, in fact, simple clothing and not some type of armor. Armor takes a while to put on now, but clothing should not be subject to the delay. If it's indeed clothing, can you please list what clothing you're trying to equip in this way here?

Taking OFF armor also might be subject to a delay, I'm not sure.

There's a thread furthur down the page about it.

I'll double check when I get a spare moment and make sure it's not just the armour. Thanks for the info. I think it was that when I was doing it, can't remember now.

Yeah ok, ignore me, I'm a dizzy blonde. lol.

I have got some changes that use armour so it may have been that, I'll just have to use something else suitable instead. Guess it does make sense.

Ok, you can all go about your business now. lol.

And thanks.

I played around with this a little bit last night. It would appear that all clothing and weapon changes go through the combat queue. The delay on clothing changes is minimal to the point of being inconsequential, except for, perhaps, macroing. Armor and weapon changes, however, take longer and if, say, you equip an Ubese Shirt and then some pants you'll be waiting for a couple of seconds after putting on the shirt before the pants will be equipped.

The reasoning behind this is so that people can't just instantly equip armor and weapons while fighting. With the quick change macros it was common for some people to wander around without armor when they weren't actively being attacked so that they wouldn't have any encumberance, and then to automatically equip it as soon as they were attacked. This stops that behavior.

Oh yeah, I completely agree with it, with the armour and weapons (apart from why have a 'Quick Draw' as a title for pistoleer, when you've the same as everyone else, but that's a whole nother issue, lol). I was just annoyed cause I thought it was messing up my shows. lol. But it's not, doesn't make much of a difference on the clothing changes.

It should also be noted that un-equipping armor is instantaneous - no delay.

Equipping the first piece of armor is instantaneous as well. The delay comes for each succeeding piece of armor. So, if your outfit change only uses 1 piece of armor, just make sure to equip that last, and you should be ok, I'm guessing.

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

Unfortunately this also means you must travel with your weapon and armor equipped at all times unless you are strong enough to take more than a few hits before getting incap'd. I really do hate it when fixes have to be implemented because of abuse by a few. I've been told this has been to stop players who were essentially cheating in PvP events though I have no idea if that's true or not.

It's funny because I do participate in PvP, but I have never seen any kind of abuse with this. I confess, I don't even know what the real issue was. Was it simply that people were changing weapons too quickly, or changing armor too quickly? That hardly seems like an issue. Am I completely missing something here?

Another weird thing about this whole armor changing thing is I have asked around, and even did a few searches and I couldn't find *anybody* that even knew what the issue was or complaining because someone put on their armor too quickly. It almost seems like a "non issue" that was fixed and consequently made things annoying for people. Yet--well, plenty of other issues/exploits/"cheats" such as buffbots that nobody seems to be paying attention to whatsoever.

Anybody care to enlighten me on what the problem was?

Nope. There was no issue. SOE is just notorious for fixing things that aren't broken. This stupid weapons change delay drives me batty. It's a nerf, plain and simple. But I didn't think it was going to apply to clothing... that's just dumb.

Some of my PvP guildies told me the "cheat" was being able to rapidly switch armor and weapons while in combat. So if you were PvPing and saw your opponent equip a stun weapon, you could instanty switch to higher stun resistant armor. Or if you had a DOT (damage over time) weapon you could use it once then rapidly switch weapons - to save using up your limited use DOT weapon. Again, I have no idea if this is accurate but it's the best "answer" I could get. Perhaps if PvP was negatively impacted by buff bots we could get that fixed more quickly. Anyone have any thoughts on how we can link the two activities??
