I looked through the dev tracker and I have yet to see a post reguarding the immediate fix for our profression that has been called for by our correspondent and the overwhelming majority of the people whodiscuss the state and well being ofour profession.

In case a developer was not aware of the problem the dancer profession is in a state of crisis.

FACTS;

  • Dancer is profession that is no longer mostlyplayed by active characters.

  • Buffing system is being exploited to ruin the entertainers role in the economy.

  • Players are not only AFK macroing the buffing and healing process but skill gain as well with the server load wasting by product of also using AFK /clap and /cheer bots for extra skill gain.

  • AFK dance bots fill the screen with unwanted spam as they remind players to /join for mind buffs.

  • Because the entire entertainer profession is basically being farmed out to dedicated robots, player characters that normally would fill this important role in the game world are able to use those skill points for extra combat skills helping to create further unbalances in both PvP and PvE.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS;

  • Changes are needed to the dancing and healing game mechanics to make them more interactive.

  • Group Buff ability should possibly be temporarily removed.

  • Clapping and Cheering experience should be publicly removed.

  • The ability to disable automatic /afk should be removed and ignore /AFK player messages should be made the default option.

IMHO the entire "ignore AFK spam"-option is a trivial, if not pointless feature. Most buffbots and merchant-spammers don't show up as AFK, since their owners have just disabled the auto AFK feature. The automatic AFK ignore feature is just more trouble than it is worth.

When I saw the subject to this thread, I could only think to myself: "This game has a development staff???"

The rest of the possible solutions seems to be good ideas, though I'd like to add this one:

  • Remove the option for macros to call other macros (or itself), possible only when it contains /startmusic or /startdance.

Why? Well, as I see it, you don't REALLY need a repeating macro unless you are going to go completely AFK. Shouldn't be too bothersome to restart a macro from time to time...

Then again, I don't use macros at all, so I might be biased.

I disagree that the afk spam filter should be checked by default. While it is a positive step i think it would be something that would add to the confusion of new players greatly. You can't see yourself talk when the afk filter is on, which combined with auto afk would leave alot of people running around mos eisley wondeing why their chat is broken.
