  • Would a system similar to simon says work? Players have to match a set of patterns/changes to a dance in order to both heal and gain experience.

  • Would a system where players have toraise an audience meter of some type be better? An applause meter that only the dancer sees as they complete flourishes and special effects.

  • Would a targeted healing system that requires the dancer tosimply set performanceon a player be enough?

Afew of thebenefits to making the game mechanic interactive;

  • It would be harder if impossible to AFK to master/for healing purposes.

  • It would kill one of the major excuses that people use to justify AFK (the game system is currently boring)

  • It would give a strong and easy way to set up scaled entertainer missions as more dances, and effects are possible at higher levels.

  • It would give master entertainer a benefit to dancers as it would increase our dance ability for a purpose.

  • It would encourage social and nonsocial players alike to pursue the profession.

I like this idea A meter that must be filled by performing flourishes as they appear on screen.

Sorry, I don't understand, isn't that how it already works?

Currently the healing system is 100% passive. A dancer dances and anyone can /watch them to get a healing. The dancer need not enter any command but /startdance basic. There is no need to do anything else which is the problem. Healing requires no input from a player. Buffing can be accomplished simply by joining a group with a dancer who is dancing and using the /watch command. Again not requiring input from a player.

Yes, Nyyxx that is in game, but I think what Reachwind is proposing is a more comprehnsive version of the /denyservice command. Personally, I think such a system of active targeted healing is a good idea. I'd like to see a Buff Interface UI that gives a list of who is watching/lisening currently. Also alongside it is your present deny service list.

Pappi or maybe Xydre (can't remember offhand) went out of her way in one post to describe such a buffing UI and if I can dig it up. It is a good description of what I think would work best.

As for buffs, I think a 'Simon Says' type arrangement is a good ideas as well. You could use the same UI window to target someone for a /setperform. You would then get a string of /flo's to perform in the order specified for a time specified to buff soemone.

Just some thoughts...I'll see if I can dig up that post...

Oops it was neither Xydre or Pappi....

It was U'tess, here is the idea quoted from her post...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We all have been asking for an improved way to buff players, and many of us have wanted a way to encourage ATK play but its been hard to figure out how we do it and not make it a hassle. Well, I think I may have a solution:

The Entertainer Window

This would be a new interface window that you would have access to upon taking up novice entertainer. The window would be similar to the "group member" window in design and how it looked. Here is how it works:

1) Any time a player watches or listens to you their name would pop up in the window.

2) Underneath the player's name would be 3 buttons:

Heal: This button allows us to heal wounds and battle fatigue on a player at our "maximum" capability. We still heal without having to click the button but *only* at novice entertainer levels. To fully heal the player at full speed, you click the heal button.

Buff: This button starts a buff on the player. Only one non-grouped player can have a buff on them at a time. All group players can also have a buff inititiated on them.

Deny: This button would cause all services to be denied to the player(even basic Novice entertainer healing)

3) None of these buttons would have /commands. It would be like clicking accept or refuse on an ID offer. This would prevent these commands from being macroed by afk bots.

So, using this system we accomplish the following:

- We know exactly who is watching/listening to us. Something we have always wanted to have

- We now have an easier, more intuitive way to start a buff and deny service to players

- By making "full healing" an entertainer controlled option, we still allow afk entertainers, but we now encourage at the keyboard play because without clicking the button, healing will be very slow.

- We remove the ability to buff while afk, thus ending the existance of those bots forever.

- And we do it all from a simple but easy to use interface. No more having to try and target a player to start a buff. If they are watching us, they are on the list and we can quickly click and start the buff.

This window and system would help everyone and pretty much end AFK entertaining for good. It would help the RPing entertainers by ending bots, and those focused on healing services would have great new tools to use.

I really think this would work Thoughts?

I saw this somewhere. Is the following an active command?

/denyservice - Entertainers can use this command to add/remove a name to a list of people who will not be healed by viewing their show. The list expires at the end of the playing session.

I agree Shaizann. I like the direction this post is going and think something needs to be done.
