For a year now i have been dancing, at first the experience was uplifting and refreshing. The Cantina's actually had regular bar flies, the social aspect was amazing and it was fun meeting all the people i met.
Over the course of the year we have seen many down turns in the profession, very little fixing going on. Sure we got the ability to buff yay. But it just made us slaves to the system that the devs created. No longer was it hi how are you and how are things. I turned into
/t Ceta " You buffing?
/r yes you need a buff?
/t Ceta "Yes please"
/t Ceta " How much?"
/r "Just tip me what you think is fair"
/t Ceta "Ok kewl ..i am gonna go eat a sandwich and go watch something on T.V. cause frankly i have seen this dance step too many times and i am bored outta my skull hehe"
Then the afk hologrinders starting multiplying like the black plague, everywhere you went was afk babble. Hi end planets low end planets player cities. You name the place. Heck even drove by a few camps with afk buff bots sitting in them *shrug*
I just went on my merry way, dancing for entertainment value in starports player Cantina's or anywhere else the wind blew me to. I was just happy being an entertainer.
As time went by it occured to me that the state of our profession is in a critical time. These next few publishes and subsequent post JTL changes that are rumored to be coming.
For quite sometime i would come to these dancer forums..read the debates..chime in here and there with an idea...or a rant to blow off steam. I started frequenting them less and less, because just like the entertainment profession as a whole the boards threads are like history..been there done that.
Nothing fresh being said...same problems over and over. Same solutions presented, and same lack of dev response to said problems...or no encouragment that our ideas were even worth considering.
I swore i would never stop being a Dancer...and for almost a year i believed myself, i gave up lots of oppurtunity to try other professions because of the skill point investment i had made in having the Master dancer title.
A few days ago i had to stop lying to myself. The profession is in its death throes, and new animations..wookiee's Jedi robes, and anything else that seems trivial in my opinion has come out as being more important than even attempting to fix what is at its core game breaking.
How it reached this stage i don't know. Perhaps down the road the developers will surprise us with some revelation about where we are going and how great its gonna be. I hope maybe that will happen. I am not holding my breath.
Just like all the combat related forums are grasping at straws about issues they have within their professions..the devs give thee ole, Wait for the Combat balance.
Well we didnt even get the "Wait for" anything. NO time tables, no possible valid fixes to our problems, not a peep about new content besides the back burner of the Hutt casino. Also dismayed by a post by TH that the acrobat profession was put on the shelf months ago, so i guess all those motion captured animations they made for it are worthless. Time spent on something that never made live, while a profession like Dancer that heavilyrelies on motion capture to even look right, gets the shaft.
That last part being the last nail in the coffin for me. As of now i am no longer a Dancer.
Panthu you can remove my name from the Master dancer list, i don't know if i will return i may, i may not. I am not leaving the game over this mind you. But for now, dancing is just no longer a viable profession for me. Something i have loved for a year is now just like the responses we have received from the developers on the state of affairs for our profession. It is dead to me. I got some vasarian brandy and i swallowed the SOE forget pill, and now cannot dance my way out of a wet paper bag
And i guess i have to retract alot of my post because i referred to it as "Our" profession when correctly it is now "You're" profession as i am no longer a member.
My membership card has expired, and i am not re-upping

Aw, Ceta, I hope you change your mind.
I think the quests that are currently on TC being changed and reworked from what they were originally intended is a good sign for now... I'm still not sure they'll have the time to make these exactly what we were wanting and no, they still would not resolve our core problems no matter how great they were... but it does show a willingness to listen I think. *shrug*
That said, I understand where you are coming from on every point. I know it's been frustrating for all of us. *hugs* We'll miss you.

Dont blame you dear. I think Im just a day or two behind you. And to those that keep bringing up the issue of Dancer Missions....
I took up Dancing because of the Social element. WHY in the WORLD wouldI want Dancer Missions???? Thats Got to be the silliest idea since AFk Dancing.
And this morning.. On top of everything else.... Turns out that NOW you can start a macro going and not even have to go AFK. Just go LD and your macro keeps on running and spamming.. Now you dont even have to be logged ON to spam. LOL
So I'm gonna spend a couple more days dancing.. Just to try and remember when it meant something... Then in a couple days gonna just Drop all my Dancing skills and go look for something else... Anything else that has some social aspect to it... If that fails... Then gonna ask hubby to find me some good RP games from his colleciton and go play Offline. And offline RP game has more social element in it than this profession does.

I don't care about them either. But if this is the way they wish to give us new dances, which is content I do care about, then fine, I'll do the missions. Also, we should keep in mind that a whole bunch of people play this profession and some of them have in fact been asking for better missions, so there ya go.

Surely you jest.

You know what's sad Pickles? That I dont even care enough anymore to bother arguing with you about it. I guess the only reason I bothered looking here in the forum is that it's so hard to completely give up. But I think I've already done that.I COULD be dancing I guess. But at least READING about Dancing is something. Better than actually Doing it now.
So yea.. whatever you say. Im sure you're right.

Nobody's right. It's all opinion. You're bitter. If it helps, go ahead and take it out on me. But my god, if you hate this game so much, go find something you enjoy doing! Life's way too short to be spending time on things that you hate doing.

Very well written and obviously painful good bye post. I sympathize and see where you are coming from.
I hope you find a new profession that makes your playtime as fun as dance once was for you. Its playtime, and it should be fun!

Take a break Ceta, get out of the cantina, smell some fresh air, find a significant other, clean the cobwebs out. Maybe we can welcome you back sometime. But most importantly enjoy your time here no matter what you do.

I sympathise Ceta! I've also given up on dancer and cancelled my subscription today (Panthu you'd better take me off the master dancer list too I'm afraid). I'm so jaded by this game the mere site of a cantina full of afkers makes me feel sick. This isn't how it was meant to be.

As painful as it is, there will be a new candle.
I'm sorry to see you go, Ceta, but I look forward to when I can remove your candle and welcome you back.
