The number one thing that breaks dances as I see it, is emotes that makes you turn toward whoever the emote is sent to. If you for example /smile at someone while dancing formal, the whole layout of the dance will change, facing this persons direction. In effect, making you dance all over the place.

This results in my case that I don't use emotes as much as I'd like to. Please devs, this can't possibly be intended.

Yes, but this is also a very nice tool to point you in the right direction.

Want to find someone in a crowded area? /smile at them, then go straight forward.

I'm just saying remove the turning while dancing, not otherwise.

I don't have too much trouble with it, if I turn to smile at someone then I just turn to face the direction I was before real fast if I want to, not bid deal reallly. I mean yes at times it does get annoying, but not a big enough problem to warrent change at this point in my oppinion. Sorry its causing you trouble tho.

In theory, it's very effective for tips when you turn and smile at someone as they walk in the door. I know I double my tips when I do this consistently. From 0, up to.. 2*0,...0!

If there is a change, I think it should be done so that the dancer can choose to auto-target or not. What I do find odd is that only some of the socials will do this. How did they pick the ones that do? Weird.

That's not a bug, it's a feature

I use /smile as well when I want to face someone. If I don't, then I "/emote smiles at %TT" which does not turn me at all.

I think we have other more pressing issues that should go to the top of the list.

I agree that this isn't a big problem when you dance something that keeps you in one spot. With lyrical and formal however, where you're all over the place, it really breaks the dance. I have yet to time an emote/change direction so that the layout doesn't change while dancing one of those.

As for "/emote smiles at %TT", that one uses a different type of chat bubble alltogether. It's hardly a good alternative.

I have chase camera off, and the 'rotate char left/right' keys bound. (I think it's actually called 'turn left/right' in the options). If an emote changes my facing I can use the turn keys to correct myself without stopping the dance. It definately can be an annoyance, and no offense intended, but I'd much rather see the dances I get at master dancer have more then 2 flourishes...ie. add flourishes to the exotic dances please

I do what Sinda does, and the difference in the chat bubble is not an issue as far as I'm concerned.

I use /smile as a tool more often than not.

Actually, I love that smile turns you. I actually use that while dancing to face someone without breaking up the dance

Another way to turn without using emotes is to have the camera face the direction you want to face, then scroll in to 1st person mode, then scroll back out. Viola! You're now facing that direction. This doesn't work when you're sitting though.
