Thread: To capture...or not to capture that is the question.

Personally having watched the changes to the dances on the Test server i am highly upset. In my opinion if they are not going to do it right i.e. Motion capture, then don't do it all!

Do not bring the bar of this game downward by doing this SOE, don't just haphazardly slap somthing together send it live and then listen to the whines.

Take your time, go back to the mo cap studio, and do it right! I realize that means it will take longer to get to us, but i for one prefer quality over speed of change.

In a nut shell you do your player base who LOVE dancing a great disservice by not being willing to take the steps to make it the best it can be. If that means we have to wait 4 months then so be it. Don't make second rate changes. This game is supposed to raise the bar, not lower it. Be kind and do it right!

I have not seen the new dances on the TC. But if Sylune is right, then I would be 1000 times more disappointed by bad dancing moves as by no new dancing moves.

While I agree 100% that new animations should at least meet the quality of our existing ones (why downgrade the game?), it would also be fair to say that the animations on Test may not, in fact, be the finished product.

MoCap takes time and money to implement. The basic skeletal sequences that sit behind the animation are the parts that need testing more than anything. So it wouldn't surprise me if they're testing the code and the final release to Live would include more polished MoCap over the top of the skeletal algorithms.

If I'm wrong, it's just one more way SOE would have found to destroy a beautiful game with worlds of potential. Keep your fingers crossed. I'd prefer no new animations to crappy ones.

Moved, seconded, and carried.

I'd rather do that silly ladder climb on all the dances than do something choppy looking.I guess I'm going to have to install the test client myself and go have a look before it goes live.

I couldn't agree more, I'm trying to find out for sure what the deal is here. No response yet tho.. so just keep your fingers crossed and as soon as I find out something I'll let you all know.

I went back into the test server again today, i wanted to watch the dances again. I am convinced if this goes live i am gonna be VERY angry.

How awfully done this is. Personally i have seen better animation on stickdeath.com

You would think with the skill of these developers we would have something better then i can do at home on Maya.

I implore the devs, DO NOT DO THIS!

All dancers should go to the test center and see for yourself, you can create a character there as an entertainer and at least see the new flo's for Rhythmic, . You will be just as angry and disappointed as i am .

This is a plea, do it right or not at all

I can't let this drop,

It bothers me, we need some kind of response from the dev's on this one before its too late.

This above all the other things that those in the entertainer field really need to have dealt with at this time.

I may be beating a dead horse here, but this is a MMO that dead horse can be revived with a master doctor

Thanks for looking into this if your able to Ravenmist, i don't know if you have a direct line to the devs or how much influence you have in your posistion, but anything you can find out would make me feel better.

Can anyone on test center do a video capture and upload it somewhere to watch?

There is a dedicated forum for Test Center issues, isn't there? If not, I can only say /bug the heck out of it on TestCenter, because I doubt they'll see that sort of issue when posted here..
