I am not sure if this has been brought up on the boards, but I have notfound a post on it yet. I wanted to know what you think about those who join a group and go afk for hours on end? It is one thing to get up and get a drink, bathroom break, emergencies, etc. But those that the only reason they join the group is to get a bigger exp boost. I know many will set up marcos to run while they are at work or in bed. ( I have done this on occasion to test it out to see how much more exp I really gained andto testto see if themacro work, but I do not group with others and I go to a far corner somewhere that most will not see me.)

Anyway, I wanted to get others opinion on this.

As a combat sort let me tell you if they flame you, don't care. If you want to do this goto some of the out of the way or higher end areas. There are cities that have no entertainers or medics. I like to hunt in areas without alot of people and when I see an enetertainer there I am happier than a pig in shoot.

I don't have a problem with AFK performers as long as they aren't taking up the primary real estate and they aren't sending out constant "Tip me!" shouts. One of the siliest things I've seen recently was someone who came into the Dearic cantina and immediately stripped and went AFK dancing right in front of the entryway. Every so often the person would spam "Don't forget to tip! I need some new clothes!" After awhile the player came back to restart the macro and I offered to custom make her some preformance clothes. She declined, stating the she enjoyed dancing in her undies and she had plenty of clothes and just needed XP. Okay, fine. What about the shouts? "Oh, that's just my macro. Gotta go!" Back to AFK, while the macro (which I assume "she" downloaded off the internet somewhere) went right on shouting for tips and clothes that she didn't need. It got downright ludicrous when she moved too close to the stairs and stopped dancing, but continued to shout for tips every minute or so.

As Swiller says, the combat types would rather find a robot in the cantina than find nobody at all. Just be courteous about your setup if you deliberately go there with the idea that you're going to be dancing AFK for a long time.

A funny story about AFK. I logged on the other morning and was exploring. The only dancer in the cantina was afk and doing the dance where you warp/fly all over the place. She had three people watching her and they would get up and run over and sit down next to her each time she flew/warped across the room.

Then to top it off they were healing and begging her to get up and keep dancing even though the afk flag was up over her head.It wasrather humourous to watch. So yes even AFK dancers are fun to watch.

If you go AFK on a persistent basis in my group, I will /kick you without one morsel of regret.

AFK macro "dancers" are not playing the game. They're not dancing. They're running a bot and calling it "playing". They give the rest of us entertainers a bad name, and everything we can do to discourage them makes the game a little better for the rest of us.

If you want to be alone in a back room macroing, go ahead. It's no bother to anyone else. But to stand in front of the entrance and spam for tips at the same time is worthy of a /duel.

I don't train AFK entertainers, I don't group with AFK entertainers and I would never /watch or /listen to one.

I don't *EVER* dance AFK. If I must go AFK, I will stop dancing and sit down somewhere out of the way. I do understand those that go AFK for a little while to handle short RL tasks. But going AFK and macroing just to get Dance XP, IMHO, is pretty lame. My customers expect a friendly, caring person to chat with as well as watch, and I try my hardest not to disappoint them.

The only time I perform AFK is if I have taken an entertainer "gig" mission that requires that I perform in an empty room (for some reason on my planet, people go to the cantinas, never to the hotel bars). No audience to interact with= extremely boring. Might as well run a macro for a couple of minutes while I get up and make a sandwich . . . .

I've been very clear on this for some time.. I don't agree with AFK dancing.. Macros, in my opinion, were put into the game to allow for choreographed performances, and short macros that allow us to better interact with patrons while we continue to perform, not so that people could level without even being there.

Like everyone else, if someone is afk for a short time while doing something IRL, fine - we all have to do that. But if someone is constantly AFK, I will boot them from the group, as well, if I am leading.

For those who want to do it, at least have the courtesy not to come station yourself in the middle of the room, as if you are part of the group - at the very least, choose a side area, or better yet, do it in your own house or PA hall's back rooms.

Any entertainer who joins my group then goes AFK for more than a few minutes and without warning will be dropped from the group. Then we will make fun of you. We've been pondering for days why one musician smiles to herself every three minutes. "What Does she have under that skirt?!" The patrons are amused. Our job is to entertain the patrons.
