Thread: /autosplit tips

The number one confusion I see among my customers is that they expect tips to one entertainer to be split between all entertainers in the band. It would be awful nice to have an /autosplit tips option for bands.

Also, I have a problem with gig missions. I am not sure if they are working or not (I tried dancing at one for about half an hour before giving up), but even if they are working then they aren't paying well enough. I could do a delivery mission for the same amount of money for much less time. If they paid more then deliveries, they might start to be worth it, or if they took as little time as a delivery (i.e. hardly any at all).

I don't think I'd want my tips going to afk people when I'm actively dancing and talking to someone to try to get one. Granted, not many people are reading every text message, including me. But I don't expect or deserve tips when I'm not doing anything other than dancing and flourishing and not speaking to anyone.

As for gigs, I think there's a big patch that's going to provide gig terminals like mission terminals. That should take care of that problem.

I don't see such a confusion. I'm not typically a target of tips, but I don't think I'd want to see autosplit. If a performer wants to split their tips it's up to them. Unless I was part of a regular band, I wouldn't expect it.

yeah, although an /autosplit sounds great, I don't think it's fair for the tips to go to the AFK dancers hogging up the floor while myself and others are doing all the work.

As for gigs, when you were doing the mission, did you stop dancing and start dancing again? The trick is you have to dance for 5 minutes straight without stopping inside the building.

I always abort missions unless they are in the same city. Doing this you can make about 3k an hour.

I think it will be better once there are mission terminals in every city so that you can travel to one and pick up another in the city you travel to.

The minute an autospit function goes into effect you will have every cantina in the galaxy filled to overflowing with every 14 yr that has playing a female char standing by the wall and dancing 24/7, going to their machine every 15 min to prevent the afk from activating.

When autosplit goes into effect Flawed will stop dancing and take up another career as, I suspect, many other dancers will.

When you work for tips and your tips are suddenly effectively Taxed and redistributed to any and every dancer there..... WHY WORK?

I think its rather simple for me. If autosplit went in, I'd never group with a band that had it on, unless it was a band of close friends doing a gig together where I knew everyone was contributing.. then I would like to have it on. No way i'd join a band with a bunch of afk dolts with it on tho, or even non afk dolts for that matter. /grouptip however I'm all for.

Auto-split is too problematic. I work hard for my tips -- I have my own style and personality that I feel rewards me differently than other dancers. I can type 70 wpm, I'm articulate and I love chatting. I'm supposed to automatically split my tips with another dancer who doesn't say a word, never flourishes, is afk half the time and uses "u" for "you" or "r" for "are"?

All that aside, what is needed is for SOE to fix what's broken - the /group split command works poorly, but if it could be re-engineered we would have what we want. I've been with many large groups where a patron gave one large tip to our leader and they split it among us (by hand, since /group split isn't that great).

Fix /group split, that's all we need.

I see one other issue with group tip. You might be tipped for some reason other than performing.

For example, I spied on a rebel in the cantina. I gave an Imperial character all sorts of information. I wasn't doing it for the money; I was upset that the rebel killed someone who was watching me dance. So I wanted revenge. The Imperial tipped me 1000 credits. If he tipped me during a dance because he didn't have the money on him, then it would have been split.

Likewise, any situation below:

"This is for stopping by my camp and dancing."

"Thanks for telling that group to buy guns from me. Here's a little something for you."

"I'm so glad I'm a Master Dancer now. Here's payment."

Most situations, you can avoid by not dancing and getting the tip. But if you don't know it's coming, then it'd be autosplit.

I like the notion of splitting tips. But I fear it won't work unless you know it's for the band...such as the aforementioned /grouptip. That is nice.

Yes, actually I rather like the idea of /grouptip as opposed to my original suggestion to autosplit tips.

Or, if the devs are feeling particularly ambitious, how about the idea of a tip jar that is located in a central part of the cantina that would auto distribute based on who was doing the actual work of flourishing/healing and whether or not they are marked AFK. That would catch situations where thereis more than one entertainer group or some singles that haven't been invited because the leader is AFK or LD. These situations do seem to crop up a fair bit in crowded cantinas like in Coronet.

autosplit tips -- should be a PERSONAL option, not a group-wide option.

That way if I have to go AFK for a bit (just an example)I can put autosplit on and everyone in the group will get tips that would otherwise have gone only to me. I don't think *anyone* here expressed any opinions that would be against this kind of autosplit -- and I wholly agree that a group-wide autosplit tips is a BAD idea.

as for the confusion on gig missions... all of them i've ever gotten ask if you know how to play an instrument... so even though i totally prefer dancing like a billion to one over music when I arrive at the waypoint i pull out an instrument and play music. i usually receive the reward w/in 5 minutes. I think you have to play music to complete those missions i don't think dance works. if i'm wrong about this YAY

I'm against autosplit tips that are in effect for the whole group. A personal autosplit would be better, even better a /group split.

I work hard for what I get. I talk to customers (when I'm not exhausted) and I spend a great deal of credits on interesting outfits (not just fleshwraps and leotards). I would be very unhappy if my 7k tip from one customer got split to the others (especially the AFK or undie dancers). In addition I'm also a medic so I spend alot on resources to heal the other dancers and musicans. So all that extra money eventually comes back to the group. I also tip the dancers/musicans myself if they need money for something like clothes and I happen to have plenty extra.

Leave it to the choice of dancer/musican who got the tip on whether they feel like splitting it among you. And remember!! Be generous with the other entertainers in your group as well. You're there to have a fun time, chat them up and enjoy the conversation! (you can always just gripe in group chat which is fun in and of itself)

I think if there was an autosplit, it would actually be to the group's advantage. Leaders would now hae a reason to kick AFKers out of the group since credits are typically harder to come by than xp. Everyone in the group would be watching for the player who joins a group, run a macro, and goes downstairs to watch TV or whatever. Those players would get booted quickly and will end up doing their macroing thing solo. Those who have AFK'd before will get a reputation for doing so and find it harder to join groups. Leaders who refuse to boot AFKers for whatever reason will find the rest of the group disbanding and reforming. The dancers who put in work will be a more cohesive group while the AFKers would be better off macroing outside.

But the autosplit has to be an option, at the discretion of the tipper. A lot of people that come in are regulars to a single dancer and that dancer should be rewarded as such
