The fun in this profession lies in the entertaining not in the advancement for me.

Honestly in gaining your next level the reward for dancers ist very cheap compared to other professions.

I danced also in the beta under some different advancement forms, and now they have halfed the time you need to get your next skillbox. So for my it feels very fast, how I run up to master now.

For my taste a bit to fast, cause it discourages not so much of the half-hearted dancer. And less dancer more tips and more grateful customers finding a skilled dancer.

My sugestion ist, turn off the display for the skill advancement and just dance and smalltalk and/or flirt with the customers.

In big towns withmany entertainers and many customers you gain much faster.

I for my part prefer the more empty bars were I am needed and are better able to attend to my customers.

Did you say you get 13 xp? I have dancing knowledge III and when I flourish with Lyrical 1 in a full group I get between 80 - 120 xp per pulse. Even solo I get about 30 xp after a flourish.

Best thing to do is dance your newest dance in as large of a group as you can find.

As I look back I noticed you mean Dancing III under theEntertainer profession. XP is really slow then but I find that this is the formula for dancing xp.

the higher the dance = the higher the xp

the larger the group = the larger the xp

When I danced "Basic" yesterday I was getting about 13 xp too. Just make sure you are dancing Rythmic. But try not to dwell on xp. That really isn't the point of the dancing profession, neither is tips.

If it's slow, you're looking at your XP bar too much

Good advice on the big groups and best dance routine. In the right setting you can break 100 xp per flourish easily.

This seems like it could be a really fun profession but it is SO SLOW to advance. Anyone else notice this? Even in a packed cantina pumping out the flourishes with someone healing your action at all times it take about 2 hours just to get 1/8th of Dancing 3. I currently get 13dancing expin the situation described above, otherwise, 6 or 7. I am enjoying the path of being a dancer, however, and no i'm not one who gets in my underwear and dances, i prefer the pleated skirt/bustier combo looks classy, like an opera singer hehe.

So anyway, anyone else notice how slow it is? Any tips?

Ditto and ditto.

They key is fun. The live dancers (not the AFK-dancers) in a cantina seem to be pretty avid roleplayers for the most part. The profession lends itself to RPing. Ignore your skill bar, find a good group and just have fun. Like you said, dancing is a really fun profession.

If you're feeling like it's a bit monotonous (sp?), try taking some dancing gigs. Take a world tour and visit all of the cantins and hotels on your home planet. Then go off-planet to look for more gigs.

I've always thought that a travelling musician/dancer could be an excellent cover for a spy, smuggler or bounty hunter.

Slow? Haven't you heard? It's called Akf/Macro dancing. Make yourself a nice /dance;/dance/;dance;/sit;/pause 500;/stand;/dance etc etc etc etc.

Add in some flourishes in between and just leave your computer on all night, then during the day as you go to work, yes, leave it on again. Then come home, turn offyour computer for an hour(you know, it's been on a while), go do what you want to do.

Bed time? No problem, back to the cantina, activate macro, go to sleep. Wake up? No problem, refresh your macro, go to work, come home...rinse...repeat....you'll have master in a week and you don't have to do anything but create a macro.

Enjoy.

Yup. A watched pot never boils.

A watched skill bar never rises.

Seriously, though... the fun of the Entertainment class is in the RP. If you focus on RPing whie you dance, the skills don't really matter.

Since I started this thread i've learned so much about the dancing profession....

1. Exp was only slow because i was still using basic2 when i could have been using rhymic 2, and i was in a cantina without a group...now i am in the Corena cantina in a full groupdancing footloose (yes i got dancing 3 finally hehe) making 30 or so exp per flourish.

2. You are right, a watched pot never boils, and if you are watching your exp bar, then you are not making the most out of your character...chat it up, make some friends, roleplay, just have fun

3. Whenever you have to stop and wait for something (like a shuttle) go dance....it gives the other people waiting something to watch and you can make some use of your time.

4. Try new things, try swapping your clothes, switching cantinas, switching hairstyles (grab some poor unsuspecting IDer hehe), even equip a weapon to give you a different look (i like the wood staff look hehe), and change your dance alot.

5. Talk with other Dancers....ask them advice, ask them what they've seen in their travels, ask them about dance moves, they are your friends

On roleplay....i'm curious to hear how you all roleplay your dancer....give examples if you can on how you roleplay.
