Thread: Exotic and Exotic2
well exotic waves their arms around while exotic2 sways them
maybe someone can give more input
Heh. I don't disagree. For the most part, the dance tree was designed so that the 'best' dances were all granted at the highest level. The problem with this is that Dance 4 and Master grant you... 4 levels of Exotic, most of which have 2-3 original flourishes.
Yes, it is frustrating, and it's as frustrating as the fact that a good half of our dances are simply the '2' versions, which are exact repeats on flourishes, with only the non-flourished portion being any different.
The good news? The art guy for SOE posted somewhere that in addition to hopefully using motion capture on more dances in the future, they're looking at adding some new ones. Might take a while, but it's still something to look forward to.

Why do we get both of these dances at the same time? Is it possible to shuffle some dances around like Formal2 or something in the place just for a lil more variety? Sorry if this is being worked on or has been answered before. Just something that bugs me.
The 4 versions of exotic are all subtly different, and each of them have 2 or 3 unique flourishes. While I agree they should have more (and more may be coming from SOE), they also give us the ability to chain four different dances together with /changedance that are similar enough to appear seamless and intermix the flourishes, giving us effectively 8 to 10 flourishes for exotic (the equivalent of one dance, really).
The difference between Formal and Formal2 aren't much different than between Lyrical and Lyrical2 -- at a party last week, a Novice was doing Lyrical and I was doing Lyrical2. We could still /bandflo and look like we were doing exactly the same step. The only difference was in the normal animation between flourishes... we even fell down the same number of times
Speaking of which - with only Lyrical2 and Footloose2 as the final dance rewards for spending all those points on Master Entertainer, if one didn't care about playing music, why would one ever want to become a ME?
I despise the "not knowing what the hell you're doing" thing between Formal and Formal2 is just so much more elegant.
Same diff between lyrical and lyrical2.
I do not see any unique flourish for exotic that exotic 2 doesn't have. And again, the "inbetween" state is best with exotic2. Why anybody would do exotic beats me. I'll try it again, but I don't see diddly difference bewteen the two other than one waves their arms up in the air and the other looks much more flowing. Pretty much the same difference between any "basic" dance and the "2" version.
I think the dance allocation could be better. What I think they *should* do is move exotic out of the Dance Knowledge IV box since you get exotic2. They should move Formal2 and Footloose2 to the dance tree.
For ME, they ought to give you a UNIQUE dance that is not to be found elsewhere. Just like you get a song and instrument nobody else in the music tree gets. And you ought to get an Image Design perk as well, since you have to work that tree up. I don't know what you ought to be able to do, but you ought to be able to do something special.
Dancers ought to be able to get "the polished half" of Formal and Footloose available to them at some point in time. They get the polished half of all the other dances -- I really don't think it's right to have Master Dancers who aren't also MEs execute Formal in a way that makes them look like they've dropped a contact lens between flourishes.
My two cents.
Aa'mi on Sunrunner.

I'd really like to have movements from Kyoto-styledancing. Don't know if they could get a maiko to do the motion capture, though.
