Thread: Falling why do Masters fall just as much as students???

I spent a lot of time getting my Master Dancer training. Why the hell do I fall as much as I did as a novice? This needs to be addressed. I cannot pretend to do a professional dance gig if I'm falling about just as much as I did when I first started out. It's ridiculous. Falling should get less frequent as we advance, and the Master level dances should not have falls. It's as simple as that.

Does anyone know if the developers aregoing to address this issue?

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

There should be no falling at all in the game. Period.

"Why not?" you ask.

Well, when's the last time you heard a musician strike a bad note?

How come musicians can play for hours, 100% error-free, but even a master dancer can't string 10 flourishes together without falling ignominiously on her rump?

This is probably the most frustrating aspect of the game... there seems to be just a blanket 10% or so chance of falling on any flourish, and no way to decrease that. This is unfair.

Pistoleers decrease their chance of missing as they level up. So do brawlers, riflemen, etc, etc. Musicians NEVER hit a wrong note. Why are Dancers the only ones who fail their skill at a constant, and very high, rate?

I agree that there should be less falling for master dancers than for novices. As a professional dancer in RL, I can tell you I hardly ever fall at all, and when I do, I'm a whole lot better at covering it up then a beginner dancer would be. I mean, why do they have dance characters learn all that dance technique if you don't get to use it!!!

I think this is one of the big reasons I don't play my dance character as much as I thought I would. Don't like thinking that no matter how good at it she gets, she will still be klutzy

I agree..I was so disappointed when I finally got exotic 4 and fell to one knee 3 flourishes in a row I can see people messing up when they ar ebeginners...but a master's errors should be few and far between.

I included it in my first letter to the Devs which I'm sure your already aware of. As far as a response from them I haven't been able to get one yet. They know we're upset about it and eventually we'll get an answer from them but until they get the program sorted out don't count on hearing anything. Could be another month or so before they are ready to deal with this so just be patient. I know its frustrating, it drives me just as nuts as everyone else and I'm sure we'll be able to get something done about it as soon as their ready to start working with us.

I seriously doubt that. The devs in charge of entertainment like the falling. It amuses them.

The whole falling thing didn't exist until near the end of beta. No-one ever gave any justification for why it was added. No-one has EVER given a justification for its existence since then. No-one has ever explained just how this "feature" was supposed to enrich the game experience or why, when they were purportedly making changes to encourage troupes to rehearse and create shows, they would put in something that actively disrupts a coordinated show and can't possibly be avoided.

As for the musicians, they were supposed to get their own kind of "critical failure" as well, but it either never worked or they decided that a someone bleating out of tune just wasn't as funny as watching somone fall on their butt.

Color me cynical.

I've noticed I tend to get a spike in tips around the time I fall...possibly because I rp a reason for the fall. Heels brake, and the shoes come off. I tripped over someone and excuse myself. High gravity zones. Maybe I had better start drinking water before a show, instead of Sunspots. Etc.
