Well, not the /tip system. The design is broken.

I'm a Teras Kasi Master, and recently decided to add Doctor. So, I sit in the cantina and heal dancers. After two days of this, this is what I have come to realize:

Noone pays entertainers. Well, almost noone; Some generous players will infrequently throw a 500-1000 credit tip at one of them from time to time. Presently, there is no effective mechanism to enforce payment. It is the customers' discretion to pay dancers; Anyone can click "Watch" and get their healing for free. Should I be able to visit a Master Armorsmith's vendor and click "Steal" on all his/her Composite armor segments?

I believe you have the Entertainer payment structure backwards.

Noone should have BF healed by walking into a cantina. They should have to find a dancer or musician they like, give them a tip (after negotiating the fee), and the Entertainer then uses a /provideService command. Only then will the customer have their BF & Mind wounds healed.

When all players are required to PAY to have BF & Mind wounds healed, the economy will be more complete. Eventually fees would settle as novices and Masters competed for credits; payments would most likely end up ranging from .5 to 5 or 6 credits per BF, depending on how fast the Entertainer can heal them.

You have two entire professions full of players walking around with 3-4,000 credits per player in their bank because their ability to make a living is determined by how well they beg, or how little clothing they wear.

S.

P.S. - I won't even start on how laughable the penalties for high BF are. Most Teras Kasi Masters I know are running around with 1,000 BF, as the penalties for it are laughable at best.

I could not disagree with you more!!

I am thrilled to have the /denyservice. This provides me with the option to choose whom I heal. If a cutomer is abusive or annoying , I can choose to select this option and cut my own revenue.

However, this is a SERVICE occupation. Tips are gifts to me for services rendered or signs of affection from my fans.

Most nights I average 10-15k in tips. I have had nights making 30k and more but lol sadly those nights just tend to make my tailor rich not me! (LOVE those new colors )

I DO NOT want someone to have to pay to see me or to PAY for my services. I chose this profession because I love it and understood that my money was based entirely on how well I DO MY JOB.

How does being a service occupation make the payment you receive a gift? It is consideration that is due to you for services rendered. A judge is a member of a service occupation. Do you really think that his salary is a gift?

I have yet to see Tom Cruise, Bernadett Peters, Pavoratti, or any other entertainer inreal lifegive their services for free unless it was for a charity event to feed the poor or something and get themselves some limelight.

I have yet to see any merchant in Galaxies give away their best for free. Now they tend to give away lower stuff just for the EXP, and such, and to get their name out there, but someone give away an exotic leotard? ::snorts:: Riiiight.

I love dancing. I will go to Lok and dance just because it's less crowded there. I'm obviously not doing ti for the EXP because I'd get more on Tatooine. And if I REALLY wanted credits, I'd go run some missions. So I can agree with all those people who say "Oh my reward is the chatting.... helping people" yadda yadda. (Though I wonder how many just want to get people who read this to say "Oh... I like them, I'll go watch them." Probably not many, but I know there have to be some)

I DO love the interaction more than the combat. But, we are trying to simulate a real world. Night club muscicians get paid. Lola at the Copacabanna gets paid. Ricky ricardo gets paid. Get my drift?

We've covered this. "It's our only source of money!" "But it's a service they have a right to!" "But how else do we get money!" It's the same old cry. But back to the first statement. Every entertainer gets paid unless it's a charity thing. Even the Pier 39 entertainers get tipped and the living statues at the Venitian in Vegas.

But You pay top dollar to the the Phantom of the Opera, and you toss some coin and maybe small bills at the guy in the Venitian (but the venitian hired him too)

Now- is it right for an entertainer to be paid? If not then demand that you get to see all of your Movies at the theater for free. I'm just saying....

Tekoa - Ahazi- who will personally only use /deny if it is necessary, otherwise doesn't care all that much.
