Isthere a way to "group" change dance? Or isthe only group oriented command, /bandflourish?

I am preparing to put together a show on my server. The idea is to have a few groups (maybe 10-15 people in each group) and have each group lined up behind each other, or even intersperse group members in each line..

You get the idea. Each group will have a leader who will be in charge of performing the bandflourishes. However, I would like to see changes in the actual dance, not just sync'ed bandflourishes.

How would I accomplish this? I was thinking everyone runs a changedance macro, but how to ensureeveryone starts it at the same time? The group leaderswill need a different macro I assume? Or run onewith the /changedances and have another for flourish? Or combined, but make sure the times are the samewith the leader macro and the member macro?

Thanks in advance for any advice you are able to offer.

Another dancer and I worked out dance changes to go through exotic 2-4. What we did was choose a 'transition' flourish and made a short macro that triggered a visual effect (smoke or distract), a couple seconds of pause and then the dance change. With a slow dance like exotic it's fairly easy to practise synching lighting effects, so when we cue for a change, it's just like doing a light effect and the macro takes care of the timing.

I would loveto have/changedancegroup, /startdancegroup, /stopdancegroup, /gsmoke /gdistract, etc commands that could be toggled to not accept just like bandflourishes are currently. Exotic was fairly easy to work with since the movements are slow enough you can really nail the timing down but I'm dreading trying to work out synching for popular.

Thank you... if anything that is a great tip about the lighting effects. I can use that a cue to single the other groups to change dance !

*hugs*

Thanks!

As was mentioned no, dancers do not. Musicians do, although there's has been broken for much of the start.

Reasoning I think was that musicians all have to play the same song, dancers are often not dancing the same song.

I also have been asking on this forum and others for a /bandchangedance ability. I think it should be awared after novice perhaps or perhaps give it when attaining "choreographer" or make it an on/off toggle switch like we do with /bandflourish off/on

It would really be nice with formal/lyrical since the base dance is so bad manual synched changedances are extremely hard to pull off even with lighting effects.

You might want to have your dancers with the 24 hotkey bar up with macros for /changedance lyrical /changedance formal /changedance popular2 /changedance basic etc, etc on the bottom bar easily referenced with icons or names then be in group chat during performance and have the master of the band coordinate and shout out the hot key combinations you want then control the band flourishes.

Also recommend coordinating with band special affects too.

Twinkles, what I do to cue a change is just say in /g 'change'. Since I'm only synching with one other person, we worked out set changes so there's no confusion. In our exotic routine, I can lengthen the period of time spent doing each variant-we don't switch the dance until I call for the change (I usually cue it just before I hit the flourish that it takes place on).

Since you're talking about a lot more people than I, you could try setting up a chat channel and have all the dancers join. Then you can use that channel to call the changes, but it's up to each individual dancer to have the timing down.

Something else to throw into the suggestion pot that we use in Talus Moon.

countdown: /groupsay Countdown in 3, 2, 1, and GO.; /pause 2; /groupsay 3; /pause 2; /groupsay 2; /pause 2; /groupsay 1; /pause 2; /groupsay GO!;

Works pretty well for us except when there is lots of lag.

Preferred method: If you are doing this with a band, then the thing to do would be oo have everyone watch one particular band member (e.g. horn player) and when the musician executes a particular flourish (8 is a good one for leads) and goes into the animation, everyone hits their /changedance button and voila The dance band flourishes can go on.

But boy do we need the equivalent commands that musicians have available
