Thread: An interesting issue with the passive nature of our buffs
While I am waiting for groups on Lok, I always place a camp behind the SP and give inspiration buffs. Now considering how many people there are at Nym's refusing anyone less than level 70 into their groups because it 'slows down their xp' I find it strange that only a few come to me for a buff. I think there might be a problem with people actually knowing what these buffs do, or maybe, becasue these groups are mostly Jedi, they might be suffering from a 10% extra xp loss with the buff when they get BHed. In any case, this needs to be addressed.
Inability to "turn off" the buff is a big drawback with passive mechanics. And yes..it's a bigger problem for musicians than for dancers..but "ambience" is a huge issue for musicians, aside from any mechanics (I'll nudge Scip this way later this morning). Ideally, a player would only have to /listen to a musician when wanting an Inspiration. How to deal with the ensuing cacaphony is the question.
As for buff issues..I've included the +10% xp loss on death while inspired issue in my bug listsfor a while now(along with the loss when learning Theatrical while under the influence). Now that the "too far away" bug is cleared up, we can focus on nagging them about the others a little more.
I've noted 10% higher fp gain per NPC kill and mission completion while inspired..we just don't get a system message for it. I'll bring this up & see if we can getsomething in there so people can tell ifit is "working" or not. If anyone is NOT seeing fp increase while inspired, please document it!
Silly, I've not before had anyone mention a higher crit fail rate when inspired. On the contrary, I have noticed more successful assemblies when playing my BE. Keeping in mind that theInspiration bonus is to assembly and not experimentation success and numbers I've compiled have been on assembly, I don't feel confident saying that there ISN'T a problem. If anyone can provide documentation on this, please let me know. As confident as one might be about their experience, I need numbers to back that up.

Others tell me only new folks need our buffs to help them get started, after reaching a certain combat level they just aren't neccessary. From my exp we're supposed to get 10% to exp, faction and crafting sucess or whatever right? Well when I usually run off to heal someone I was dancing beforehand so I've got the inspiration. Healing seems to work. I heal someone and the system message says "You gain XXX medical experience. (XX bonus experience)" so that at least is working. What I didn't get the message is when I went and did some faction quests with my BF. "You gain XX rebel experience. You gain X cries of alderan bonus." is all it said. What does the faction part supposed to boosting by 10% if its not faction gained?I just noticed that once because I would still get the bonus for healing just not any bonus faction that I could see. Maybe I need to kill without the buff first and then with and see if i can notice a difference. Maybe there just is no bonus message?
I seem to recall getting increased FP point gain in the past with insp buffs, though I can't remember now whether there were any system messages informing me that it was due to the insp. buff. I haven't been trying to gain any FP for a while now, but I should be doing so again soon so I can maybe check it for me at least. As far as the Cries of Alderaan bonus, that is a bonus from the first story arc in the game. At the conclusion of it they totalled the relative completion rate for Imperials and Rebels, and the winning side was to get an FP bonus of 10% as I recall. The Rebels won. I think it was supposed to be only a temporary bonus, but I think that bonus is still being applied, and that's what you're seeing. I'm really kinda surprised that it's still there after all this time. I'm also surprised that the Imperials don't seem to be a more upset that Rebels have had this XP advantage for so long now, and they've never gotten another chance to get one for themselves.
well he's one of those "soe broke everything but I still pay them for 8 gazzillion characters anyway" kind of guys so take it with a grain of salt.

How about 2 listening commands? /listen or the radial menu works as before. But add a new one, /hear or something, that you can optionally use to HEAR the performance but NOT get a buff.
