Dancer Archive

I'm sort of new to dancing, so sorry if this is one of the most asked questions, but is it possible to buff yourself. I've tried to target myself and /setperform. System tells me "Valrock Sin has direct their performance towards you" and I start flourishing away, but it never gives me a buff. Am I doing something wrong or does it just not work.

I pulled nothing up about this on Advanced Search and I've gone back a pages on the forum to try to find information.
