Dancer Archive

Hi guys,

I am a Master Musician and recently me and a few friends have started an entertainer troupe. Us musicians can use the /startband and the /changebandmusic commands and they work flawlessly and we all start and sway in unison. For the life of us however we can not find a way for the dancers in our group to do the same. /startband does not start them dancing and if they are dancing each dancer has to type in the /changedance command and therefore are never changing exactly at the same time so end up out of synch. Does anyone have any tips or tricks of the trade they can share so we can all look professional and be in unison?

There's nothing in the game mechanics that allows musicians to affect what the dancers are doing. You may already know this, but in order for the dancers to do this it takes preparation. Most bands of course, use groupchat as a means of "counting down" the time that the dancers are to start dancing or change dances. And, then we all attempt to do it at the same time. hehe

It's really unfortunately pretty near impossible to get us to all sync up exactly, but you can often get close enough to where your patrons don't notice and still say you're wonderful. The only one suggestion I would have is for the dancers to put things like the changedances into hotkeys. That way when you're counting down, it's a lot easier for them to just click a button and keeps the accuracy of being in sync a little higher. Practice makes perfect.

Until we get a /groupStartDance command to start all the dancers in the group at the same time I have a little countdown macro that at least helps get Kirah, Dranon and I off on the same foot. With a little practice it can work fairly well:

/gs 1;
/pause 2;
/gs 2;
/pause 2;
/gs 3;
/pause 2;
/gs GO

This macro merely counts down in group chat. All the dancers initiate the predetermined dance on “Go”. (or change dance for that matter)

And this simple little countdown macro really does help! The only problems we've run into have been when one of us accidently hit the wrong dance hotkey or the dance hotkey didn't take for some inexplicable reason. We've used it successfully on all the Exotics and Popular2 and the sync-move always gets raves from patrons!
