First of all Ive been both a matser dancer and a master musician. But I left the professions as buffbots took away most of my business both as a dancer and musician. And it is so sad. Sad because it makes the game richer to have all the cute dancers and the musicians aroundgracing the game with their aperance. To walk into the cantina and yes.. a dancer smiles at you and she dances for you... Much better thatn the secondary account buff bot machinery who is like meeting a cold wall just to mass produce buffs.
5 months ago. When I was a master musiciana lot of people asked me to buff them. Being a MM then was fun. When I left the profession nearly none asked for my services anymore..
I hope som of you people who makes those buffbots read this. Whatever you say. I hate you for doing it. You are destroying two professions and I would rather see that kind of players go and play counterstrike.
And to the developers. Please REMOVE the possibility to accept a group-invite from the macro language.. Then you save a profession.
Also please let the buffs last for 3 hours instead of 2 to keep up with docs buff.

You know, for the longest time I've played on Kettemoor, and I've been a master dancer for a very long time. The whole time I was playing I saw a few buffbots, but they were in out of the way places and you didn't really see them much during day to day activities. I may have seen one or two buffbots in Theed or Coronet, but they didn't stay there long, and they were but fleeting memories.
For a very long time, I didn't feel like the buffbots truly affected my gameplay as a master dancer all that much. However, I always spoke out against them anyway. Because even though I didn't see them much and it didn't appear as if they were taking away my business, I always knew they were. There were still quite a few people that I never saw and were completely unaware of that were getting buffed by their guild buffbots, thereby not stopping into Theed or Coronet to get buffs from those of us who were there. I knew this was happening, but I didn't really see it. I think that most of the reason why I spoke out against them so vehemently despite the fact that it was mostly going on where I was basically unaware of it,was because I wasafraid of what the future would become. I figured they would be more common, and start to invade the NPC Cantinas at some point. I didn't know when, but I knew that, unchecked, it would absolutely happen. To this day, it still seems that Kettemoor is a bastion of hope as far as not having those buffbots in our NPC Cantinas yet. However, even though this was my experience, I saw a lot of people complaining about how it was taking away their business and how it was so "in your face." I didn't argue about that, but I didn't really see it.
Now, I've started playing on Tarquinas the past month, and I've come to realize how different the different servers really are. It's helped me realize a few things. First of all, if someone says they are experiencing something, I can't...nobody can say "no, you're not, you're lying." Because the truth is, that very well may be their experience where they are playing. No offense to those of you playing on Tarquinas, but I'm sorry, that server sucks for the dancers and musicians. It is the complete opposite of Kettemoor. There are buffbots aplenty...usually anywhere from three to five buffbots at a time at all hours of the day giving away dancer and musician buffs for free. I've been Master Dancer there for over a week now, and I have only sold one buff...and that was to a fellow Master Dancer who obviously understands what I am going through because she goes through the same thing. I can say this with certainty...it is absolutely impossible for a Master Dancer or Master Musician to make a living on Tarquinas. The buffbots *have* taken over there, in every facet, and in every corner.
I don't know what server Shadow73 plays on, but when he says that nobody asked him for buffs anymore, I absolutely unequivocally believe him. That is my experience on Tarquinas. Being a master dancer on that server is utterly and completely useless as far as fitting into the game mechanics and economy of the server. I can't sell my buffs to anybody, and I cannot buff myself. There is absolutely, truly no point in dancing there. It feels very weird to me when I'm not dancing because I've always been a dancer. But, on Tarquinas, there is no reason to go into a Cantina. There is nobody to speak to, there is no way for me to make money. There is just no point...none at all. It's a very sad state of affairs, but it is the reality of the situation, and I don't exagerate when I tell you the plight of the Master Dancer on Tarquinas has delved into the depths of hell. I now see why so many people feel as discouraged as they do. I never felt that way on Kettemoor, but I was fighting for what I was afraid the future would hold. Now, I understand fully what the future *will* hold if things don't change.
I'm not sure why there is such a huge difference between Kettemoor and Tarquinas. Perhaps it's because Kettemoor was touted as the unofficial RP server at the beginning and it attracted a better "quality" of people. I don't know...again, that's no insult to those of you who play on Tarquinas. After all, I now play on Tarquinas.
But, my point of this post...when people say that buffbots are killing our profession, especially the money making aspect of it, they're not exagerating. It is so incredibly important that the devs pay some attention to it, or you're going to drive every single one of us. And, then the "grand experiment" will truly have failed. They need to think about this, because as every day goes by, it's becoming more and more of a reality. Now I truly understand why so many people drop these professions. And, really, who can blame them? The devs need to get off of their high horse on the availability of afk macro and do something to save a very special, unique part of their game.

Well said, both of you.
The use of the /join command in macros needs to be disabled immediately. Even if that means taking it away from live use, so what? There's no /accept command for ID changes, never has been (as far as I know), we are forced to click on a button and when it comes to joining groups we'll do the same.
I challenge anyone to give a valid reason why people should be allowed to macro the /join command. Its ONLY use appears to be for AFK "entertaining," either for joining large xp groups, or joining a group to give unattended buffs. I don't consider either of those valid reasons for allowing the use of /join in macros to continue.

I hate those automated checkout machines at the grocery store. Wich is why I stay away from the AFK buffers.
I'd prefer a friendly smile to a convenient machine anyday.

When buffs dont require siting around cantinas for 5+ min then I might consider not going to a bot where not only can I get buffed but chances are I am not geting spamed by coronet useul junk in the process.

I am all to easily replaced by a simple macro with no personality.
I seem to have lost my dancing shoes anyway...

Well, what I was talking about here, mainly, was the buffbots in the regular NPC Cantinas that have all the spam. The buffbots, quite frankly, are the ones doing most of the spamming.

When I called for the /join command to be temporarily disabled one dancer decided to write a **edit**ing essay on why dancer and musicians don't need to worry about AFK macrobots because "live" entertainers were so wonderful that they could make a living on any server just by being neat...
So don't expect anyone to do anything ever. Basically the people who would benefit most can't pull their heads out of their own asses long enough to get the attention of anyone who could possibly be inclined to help.

As the writer of said essay, I fully support the idea of stopping auto /join, Reachwind, both then and now. I'm sorry if my post on your petition was seen as a lack of support for this issue. I do support it. But if you are trying to stop bots, disabling auto /join won't do it. Because it will simply force the transition to auto /invite bots from a set list of "subscribers," and this is an even uglier form.
Because its one thing to use a bot for free. Its quite another to have to force a bank tip to get a boring buff from a bot. Disable auto /join? If SOE were smart, they'd do it. But while they are at it, they need to disable /invite <name> as well.
