Thread: Haven't been Master Dancer in a while...

I used to be a Master dancer with my alt character a long time ago so I'm rusty on things. I know how the old buffs work but now with my new character I'm a little unsure.

I thought that to buff only one person they didn't have to be in your group. Some guy argued with me and got mad at me when I tried to buff him without him in my group. Did this change? I know to do group buffs I have to be in the group but to just buff one person didn't think I had to be in a group with them. If someone could clear this up I'd appreciate it. And the person has to watch you for 2 min prior to the /setperform right? Thanks!

A single buff does not need to be in your group. /setperform them and do the required number of flos. They should be watching from the start, they just cant /stopw before the minimum time of 2 minutes. Actually the fastest buff is about 3:20. Have them type /startwatch instead of using the radial dial, buffs are really buggy these days.

Heh...you are absolutely right. Next time tell him you're the Master, you've been doing it fora long time and to stop arguing with you or your price doubles. LOL

LOL! Thanks for the help. I also didn't know you could buff someone so fast. I always danced for about 8 min. Will the buffs still last as long if you cut it shorter (after the 2 min mark) compared to if you take longer? Wow I feel out of it. =oP

If you cut the buff at the 2 minute mark, your customer will receive the maximum power, but it won't last as long. Fragpuppie came up with the 3:10 buff which you can find here. His system works fine for Dancers as well as Musicians.

I also have to just chime in with my politics on AFK's and buffbots...it sounds like your customer was pretty used to buffbots. ...so not only do the buffbots make it so people feel like buffs should be free, but they also make it so we have to explain that live entertainers don't need to rely on the cheap tactics (such as grouping with a single buffee) used by AFK bots. /sigh It's not a huge deal, but it is irritating having to explain that grouping is not required for buffing.

That was my inclination after I had finished posting...about 2 minutes later, it dawned on me...

This person who *insisted* that you had to be joined had either used lots of buffbots in the past, or hung around people who used buffbots and told him that was how it was done. They've become so common now, that a lot of people think you *have* to do it the way the bots do it, which requires joining the group. So very, very sad...
