hi there, i just mastered dancer on the gorath server. so far the current macro i'm running does the job in 7 minutes. but i know of other ppl on other servers who do it in 5 or 4 minutes, and i'd like to know if anyone could give me an example of this kind of macro. i've tried several different kinds and read the links but the info is kind of all rolling around in my head. could someone please dumb it down a bit for me and just say, do this: and type an effective example?
also, i have seen a macro where a person says who the group leader is for other ppl to get invited. how would i do that?
keep in mind i am keeping master dancer, i'm not hologrinding, its just easier for me to run a macro and then talk with guildies and friends without having to answer constant tells about who the leader is and how much time has gone by and so forth.

umm... the first part, do you mean buff macros or just dancing macros? If it's buff macros ya want help on I can help ya, but just regular dancing ones, mine is really long and goes from exotic2 to popular2 to exotic4 in a big confusing loop and that's just hard to type : ( but you did say you were master so i'm guessing you meant the buff one, if not then i'm about to waste my time, yay!
/startdance exotic4;
/flourish 1;
/flourish 2;
/flourish 3;
/flourish 4;
/flourish 5;
/pause 8;
/macro <nameofmacro>
this "gets the job done" in 3:10. and it's easier to make a seperate macro that pauses for 190 seconds and then sends you a tell when it's done instead of trying to keep track.
as for a macro that tells people who's in the group, first get their name, and then make a macro that goes...
/say <whoevertheleaderis> is the leader of the ent group
and then make it pause for a while so it repeats every so often... not constantly though 'cause that just gets annoying...

umm... maybe i'm just dumb but how does wanting a buff macro and wanting to know how to tell people who the leader of the group is make you a buffbot?? mayeb i'm just tryin' too hard tosee the best in people... /sigh

wait!! before you build that macro telling people who the groupleader is, here are some thoughts... please note that i'm not making judgments about you personally or your playstyle, just asking if you've thought about some alternatives to running spam macros.
it is actually nothard at allto carry on conversations while dancing without running a macro. hotbarthe flos and you don't even need to hit Enter on what you're typing to start a new movement, the F keys don't interrupt the chat line... you can put on a much more visually appealing show by listening to the music and floing with it and /changedancing with it than you can by running a macro. people who have combat characters and crafter characters and medical characters also carry on conversations while playing.
it is VASTLY annoying to many people around you in the cantina to listen to you say every 2 or 3 mins: /shout CARMEN is the group leader, please send her a tell for invite, or even /shout Come on in to the Theed cantina!!Rest, relax, have a good time!!
for one thing, all the customers who are coming in for buffs and heals don't care who the leader of the performance group is and don't need to be invited in unless you are personalizing it, looking them in the eye so to speak, actually welcoming them sincerely... and they are who you are trying to make the cantina appealing for. all repetitive spamsimply adds to the impression that the cantina is a morgue full of pixelated tape recorders rather than a room full of people and that your customers are being 'processed' rather than healed and appreciated, and unless you are insanely lucky or having a marvellous day, all your customers are already hearing 'please invite me to group if i'm not in one', 'please heal me', 'please tip me' without the live players making the place even more automated
even more importantly, think for a minute about the experience of being in a room in real life with someone who tells you the exact same thing every couple of minutes. no matter what they are saying, no matter how cute or charming or witty or informative, after three times or so it is going to get very annoying, it is going to make you feel irritated and want to go away, it is NOT going to create a feeling in you of 'wow, i had a great time here today'... and no matter what every other person in the room is doing that sense of irritation is going to be there.
as a live performer, unless i greet people at the door with 'hi so-and-so good to see you again! please add EntertainerBot to your ignore list so that my efforts to help you relax and heal and have fun here will not be wasted' then even if i /addignore EntertainerBot, i still have to live with the fact that my customers' experience of the cantina is going to be 'damn, this place is annoying!'... and i am of course not going to welcome people in such an obnoxious way, that's like saying 'oh come on in, the same old argument is underway in here, you'll love it'.
if you actually are atk and it annoys you to type out a reply to people asking who has the invites but you feel compelled to reply, here is a suggestion: make a macro that is /tell %TT, CARMEN is the groupleader, send him/her a tell for an invite... target the person who's asking and hit your tell macro.
i apologize in advance if this seems unfriendly, i don't mean it to be that way, i love other performers, meeting new ones, talking with them, dancing with them, and i am sure we would find lots in common if we talked.i just wanted to invite you to be one of the performers who is working on improving what it's like to be in a cantina rather than adding to the problem.
grats on making master dancer!! i have a 3-minute buff macro that rotates you through different flos so it looks a little more interesting than the same flo over and over if you like... i've gone on too long already, but if you'd like to send me a pm with your name on gorath, i would be happy to mail you the macro in-game
