Thread: Getting Your Community Involved

I'm an extremely lucky Twi'lek. I've had the best company in live entertainment while working up through many of the skill boxes, taking time out of the "grind" on a regular basis to party and actually perform for the community, throwing bandflos and lighting effects with the best our server has to offer I've chosen a server that is fairly receptive to the complaints of the entertainer community, and encounter grateful patrons on a daily basis. Many seem surprised that I'm actually ATK, but very few actually show contempt for the entertainer community that always seems to be afk. They don't blame us for the current situation. They seem to want to congratulate us for sticking with it through these rough times. (Last night I was thanked for providing a necessary service to the community on numerous occasions, and tipped 50K simply for dancing and speaking to one gentleman.)

I guess I'm trying to say that there'slikely no realsolution to the buffbot problem that a developer is going to hand to us. AFK macroing is something that our community has grown to accept as "normal." Instead of hoping for the best, all we can do is get our community involved with our cause. I'm attempting to do that today on Chilastra:

The response to entertainer issues on Chilastra is generally kind in nature. I hope that the community begins to understand our position after enough exposure to it. Perhaps I can get some of the benefactors of my server to become involved with the cause. Hopefully you can do the same

I agree. With very few exceptions, I've received a lot of support and respect from the players on Chilastra. My few rough run-ins havemostly been with buffbot owners. Odd how we have this good environment and so few live entertainers on the server. When the next patch comes and the grinders disappear it's just going to be the few of us and the bots..and I'm afraid we're fairly outnumbered. We're going to have to make a good impression on the new players coming in..that means more trips to Eisley..dispite the lag I think we could really use to organize more parties..sure we see a few private ones now & then..but we need some good open public parties.

I just wanted to commend you on all your effort promoting entertainer professions on Chilastra. You've done a wonderful job with the chat channel and with getting dialog going in the community. /hi5!

Esharra, I don't think they feel like being supportive today

You are very fortunate to have support. I have found it in my guild but not in the community in general.

Oh, I know! We had an amazing time last night in Theed Twice in the past week, I've had a group of 8-10 entertainers performing at the loading area of the Theed starport and at the waterfront outdoor stage for 3, 4, even 5 hours at a time! It'squite pleasing to have people give up the cantina xp to play around and take the time to enjoy the profession. Especially when you have extremely avid PvPers pick up Novice Entertainer just to join you in Basic2 (extremely easy to grind up to.)

Our Crew: "This is the most fun I've had in ages!" "I never thought I'd enjoy dancing this muchl""I never even considered entertainer before!" "Are you single? Married? Divorced? Any kids?" (<--- Hilarious mistell ) "Can I borrow some hotpants?"

Spectators: "Great Band!" "Awesome job guys!" "That looks amazing!" (<---- Bandflo envy) "Haha! Til's wearing hotpants! I'm taking pictures!" "Can you buff me?" <---- "Whoa, what's going on!?" "PARTY!"

We obviously had a good time out there both days

(Hint: If you're playing outside of a cantina, find a buffing doctor to hang out next to you. It draws attention to the area from people looking for buffs, and it brings business to the doc by allowing them to differentiate themselves from the other docs in the area. Win-win situation!)

Last night.. well this morning about an hour before the server went down I went to check out the new race track. As my luck would have it the droid had disappeared less then 10 minutes before I got there. But there was a Master Dancer there waiting... and along came yet another master ent/Master Dancer so we started up a small 2 person band + Deeva(my droid) and a dancer. Was quite nice and entertaining.
