I read about the idea to help promote non-AFK entertainers while AFK entertainers are discouraged.
Ya know, the idea where if you watch or listen to an entertainer, a message will say: "Tell the entertainer to do Flourish 4" and if that entertainer does it, your buff or healing will take 2 mins instead of 5.
This is all good and dandy, but I've thought about it. I've done Master dancer and Master Musician. SWG is huge. Imagine you're dancing/music and having fun, then a group of those L33T, immature, non-friendly, non-nice, non-social kind of players walk in and start spamming you tells of the following:
"Do florish 3 plz"
"florish 5"
"Do florish 1"
"Need florish 6"
I guess you'll get lots of people to always watch you, but will the community really enjoy being always asked to do florishes in such rude ways?
Non-AFK buffers are already being treated enough like objects. Do we need this more?
I've posted this solution for a lot of things before, and I'm posting it again.

PUNISH AFKers!!!! If an entertainer is AFK, then that entertainer should not receive XP! It will stop people from going AFK and dancing/music while they are sleeping, are at school, or are at work. Thus reducing AFK entertainers.
Punish Buff-bots! I guess thanks to the "Do florish #" it will force people to go to non-AFKers, but that will only reduce half the time. Not to mention that not everyone tips buff-bots, most people just get buffed then leave without tipping. So what should happen? It's simple, if the "buff-bot" is AFK, then whoever is watching the "buff-bot" does not get buffed. Simple huh?
I mean, why disagree with me? There's no reason to disagree. When you put yourself (AFK), it's because you are telling the world you are Away from the keyboard! Which means you are not really playing, but you don't want to logoff SWG while you are not in front of your PC because it's long to relog and reload the game. So if you go AFK, no one bothers you, you're still in the game, and when you're back you can just remove your AFK status and continue playing.
But people are EXPLOITING (Yes, that's the perfect word for this) the AFK feature! They use in-game macros, put themselves AFK (or become AFK for not touching the keyboard for 10 mins) and they gain XP and credits while they sleep, are at work or at school. I know it's all in-game, SOE added those features, now that we see people are exploiting and abusing it, it's time to stop this non-sense!
AFK entertainers should not get XP unless their AFK status is removed. AFK entertainers should not be able to buff players unless their AFK status is removed. Heck why not even remove the ability for AFK entertainers to heal wounds too wjhile we're at it.
Doing this will stop players from going to AFK entertainers for their no-effort-services and they will come to us instead, the REAL players.
Why am I saying all this? Cause I still have my Master Dancer, Master Musician, Master Entertainer on a server. I don't play anymore because it's so boring and everyone goes to AFKers. I was having a lot of fun as an entertainer before the Hologrind... but since the hologrind, it spawned too many AFK entertainers and look what happened... it's ruined.

I totally agree with you 100%. They shouldn't make it harder on actual entertainers to try and discourage AFK playing.
They have tried to prevent afking, be it surveying, entertaining etc. but it didn't work.Awhile back theDEVsadded a feature that wouldboot (logout) characters if they had been afk for20 mins. Only problem was, that feature couldn't tell the difference between you pressing a button, or the macro pressing that button - so it can't prevent afk ent'ing.Even their fixfor afk surveyors doesn't work, people would just start and stopusing their macros(if they implemented something like this for entertainers they'd just start and stop).
I just think it'll never be fixed, and anyway, after the holo grind goes away you'll see fewer afk entertainers.
And heres a little tid bit I found in the Lincense Agreement (you know that thing you agree to every time you launch the game
):
7.... you may not use or distribute macros or other programs which would allow unattended game play...
I just figure if your gonna agree to something you midaswell know what your agreeing too...
