Thread: What are your most popular party ideas?

Over the course of the last 2 years I've thrown so many parties I can't even think about trying to count them. One of my biggest problems is coming up with new, original, fun ideas for the parties that will include some kind of interaction with the non-ents. I've run the parties in cities and at POI's and have had a lot of success with both kinds of locations.

My best ones to date have been

1. Weekly Tacky parties- Contest to see who can come up with the worst outfit.

2. Weekly Fishing contests- Catch the biggest fish win a "master baiter 2000" fishing pole with your name engraved on it.

3. Weekly Hawtpants party- men compete to be "king of Hawtpants" and theladiesdo the voting.

I've also sponsored combat events like an UBER vs LEET guild war. Where I had myself and alts available place 2 guild halls and put the two guilds at war. Anyone could join or leave at any time and faction was irrelevant we just tag folks to which ever team needed the help. The mechanics of this event would be a great way for entertainer hybrids to get some pvp action. Simply make the two guilds and requirea combatlevel of 56 or below to participate.

And I'm currently working on a "street fights" event. Several Starsider guilds have made non-jedi temporary guilds. We basically centralize the fighting on Rori (less lag) and every guild wars every other guild such that we end up with gang wars on the streets of Rori. The exclusion of jedi is a bit controversial but most folks agree it's a fun time to put the jedi away and come out to fight with guns blazing.

These have all been very popular events on starsider and I thought I'd share the ideas and some pics with the dancer community. I know most of us love to entertain and throw parties and host events and I was hoping folks wouldn't mind too much sharing some ideas, pictures, ect from thier favorite events.

I was just talking about your King of Hawtpants in here, so cool!

I like scavenger hunts as a party activity. My two fav ways I've seen it done:

1. Put a shuttle ticket on a vendor somewhere in the city, whoever finds it first and sends the start and final location of the ticket wins a prize

2. Have a list of items around a city emailed to party goers, for a set amount of time they run around getting the coords for each item on the list storing them in their notepad, who ever turns in the most correct coords at the end of time wins a prize

I had a game that we found very fun that involved hotpants.

What we did was give everyone 5 different colored Hotpants, then make them line up, then We picked a color and everyone had to put that color on, last person to get the pants on was out... Kinda stunk for lagged people tho..

Great way to get a bunch of people into hotpants tho

We did one like that, ages ago. But it was "find the hawtpants". We put hawtpants in a ton of locations all over the city. You had to email the coords of all 10 pairs of hawtpants(and accompanying garments) to my character. The first one to get all correct coords won a all-expenses paid date with the "girls" who owned all the different hawtpants.

Yes, it was a PG-13 date, but it was sure cool to have a character walking around with all these hawt toons following him around. We visited starports, NPC cantinas and all kinds of places. And being that the winner was 16 in RL at the time, he really enjoyed the win.

One of the requirements to the "recruit" segment of a guild I was in once was to host an event that the entire guild could be invited to. It could be an RP event, or a group hunt, or whatever.

I threw a costume ball. I had a tailor in town make up gift certificates, and gave them out as prizes. Best Male, Best Female, and Best Pair outfits.

The best costume I saw overall was actually two female Twi'leks. One of them was a well-known RP'ing slaver in-game, the other was one of her girls. When I first saw them walk in, I thought they had gotten the invite late, and hadn't come in costume.

It wasn't until 5 minutes later that I realized -- they had come as EACH OTHER. It was great. They got ID'ed, and switched outfits, and everything. Priceless.

Another thing that was done as a contest in the city once was a girl got a BE to make a squall. Once a week she would move it to a different (public) location in the city. Each week, when you found the squall, you emailed her with where it was. People who got them all right got a prize, and whoever was, on average, the first to find the bunny each week got an even better prize.
(This was leading up to Easter one year. Easter Bunny... get it? )

what about trivia? is there any good way to incorporate trivia or "game show" style themes into a party?

I was in the band playing for a party at Krayt Oasis. The host of the party did a trivia contest. All the players sat in the cantina and he was on the stage. He would give a trivia question about star wars and the first correct answer he received via /tell would be the winner. They gave out all kinds of prizes.
