Thread: Question about spotlight and other special effects.

Need to make a choice between a new dance and getting my first of the special effects. My big question here is, does using things like spotlight and the others give you exp? Or no exp, just look good? Was tryin to decide which makes more sense to get, new dance means better exp which would make it easier to go back and learn the other, but if spotlight and such gives exp too then doesn't really matter which you pick.

So anyone know?

Thanks

No the lighting effects do not give you experience they just use alot of action. They wont really be usefull till we get to the point of doing shows with full bands and dance troups. So its up to you, you can definately wow people with the lights they are cool but kinda usless at the moment.

Happy dancing!

From the stand point of someone with no artistic taste.

I'd be more likley, all things equal, to tip higher for dance A performed with a "Special effect"(I didn't even know you guys HAD those things) than dance B performed normally. Course, what's the opnion of one dirty scout?

Does anyone know what "Dazzle" And "Distract" Do ? Are they combat functions? I was toying with learning a few dance techniques for combat purposes... if they don't do anything like daze the enemy or like stun them or something, I might consider taking them anyway just to add a little pizazz to combat

But It'd be nice to know for sure if any of the dancer techniques do any type of combat mod stuff.

it would be interesting and useful for a dancer to be able to dazzle startle some monster that is about ot eat them and escape away.

*blinks* I didn't get high enough in Beta to learn dazzle or distract . . . dazzle sounds pretty self explanetory, but what does distract do? Please don't tell me it forces players to watch one dancer over another or something foolish . . . .

They don't do anything in combat, their just other effects that look cool. Very cool mind you but thats all. They don't really do anything else.

Dancing techniques improves the Dancer ability to perform certain dances, conveying improved healing abilities. - Taken straight from the game. So special effects isn't the only thing you get out of raising those skills. I interpret this skill as less fall downs during flourishes, and faster regeneration to those who watch my performances.

Actually Aikera it doesn't make you fall down less or anything like that, but it does increase the rate at which mind damage heals. But thats not the actuall effects themselves, its just a passive bonus you get for each section of that branch. And by damage I don't mean injuries, I mean the mind pool itself. Helpful for those medics sitting around healing you.

The Technique branch;

1. A boost to how fast you heal someone.

2. special effects - each level of the branch adds a new effect to each effect type also; ie. there is /distract 1, /distract 2, and /distract 3. Same for /smokebomb 1 and /smokebomb 2.

3. special effects give NO exp of any kind.

4. the technique branch does NOT make you fall less often.

5. the technique branch adds absolutely NOTHING to any of your dances.

I haven't seen a faster Mind regen with the Technique branch.

When I first read the ablities I thought that's what they meant but now I'm thinking the regen is faster for those watching you.

Yes Spinning, it is only for those watching you, not the dancer. Like I said, helpful for those medics hanging around healing.
