Thread: Customers do tip, if you know where to look
This is just a little thread for everyone that says the tips aren't good enough or not enough people tip (yes, I love to beat dead horses).
I was noticing the same thing until I made one important change, I moved. Yes, I switched away from the noob planet of Naboo and to a remote outpost on Tatooine. It was kinda an accident, I was on a carry mission and wandered into the cantina to discover that no one was there. Not a single entertainer to help the guys fighting in a rather hard corner of the galaxy. So, I started to dance and from time to time would shot that there was now an entertainer in the cantina and I would be more than happy to to heal thier BF and mind wounds. Took about 3 minutes before the customers started to come in and in about 10 I had a full cantina as word got out that an entertainer was actually in the area. And they tipped! They tipped well. I made about 2000 credits in 30 minutes because these guys knew the value of an entertainer and really appreciated me coming all the way there just for them ![]()
If you're tired of the tips your getting in your town, find a remote corner of a harder planet where the fighters are a little more experienced and appreciate the healing. Also, if you really want to help the guys out, get Novie Scout do you can make your own camps and go where the fighting is. Stake out near an "attraction" like Jabbas or ask the fighters where the missions tend to be and set up a healing camp. It keeps them in the field longer and they love it!

I've been doing mission alot the last few weeks.
Last night I found a camp that had no medics/doctors, and no entertainers and many players.
Let's just say I walked away with over 6K in tips in a 3 hour period last night... I went back today and placed a house and made it public. Announced that I could do both medic, and BF with my coordinates and with in 3 hours had at least 4K.
Ask patrons where good places are, and head there...
It may be a nasty run and take a bit to get there but it could be well worth your while if you really want credits.
I get the majority of my tips from repeat customers, or people who have been pleased by my banter (RP or jokes). I usually dance in a smaller city. When I go to Theed I pretty much get ignored by customers and make no money. The upside is, the band is often large so the exp is better... Not to mention the music sounds great with so many people playing.Sigh, can't win. =) But based on my experience I would recommend finding a regular location to have your gigs and get to know the names who come in, greet them with a big smile... people love that. =)
Occasionally while I travel I'll perform in a pretty isolated location, and people are ALWAYS very appreciative. If there is a population of regulars there, so much the better -- you can roll both suggestions into one (remote location & familiarity).
I logged in once, and found that I was the only entertainer in Bestine. I knew it wouldn't last, but I wanted to expirement.
I immediately used my "/shout Dancing for tips" macro, and only danced after someone tipped me. I set a rate (credits per minute), and only danced for the amount of time that I had made in tips. I made more in that 10 minutes (before the second Entertainer arrived) than I made the rest of the night.
For camps: You have a couple of options. 1. If you see a large party gathering at the cantina, ask if they could use a dancer for in camp healing. 2. Go near one of the published attractions (like Jabba's palace) and set up a camp there. A lot of people working through the missions need healing. 3. ya, sometimes I just run into them. I was doing a carry mission the other night and ran past a camp, asked if they needed mind wound healing and made 700cr in the 5 minutes it took to heal them and continued on my way (with a bodyguard escort from a guy in camp heading to the same town as me).
On forcing tips. Never done, never will. I don't even ask for them or remind them. It's like a waiter asking for tips in advance to determine service. Tips are based on the service afterwards. I stay out of the cantinas with a lot of entertainers (as it's hard to get noticed) and I don't have any problems making good money.
