Thread: /sing How am I to heal your wounds, if I can't get you to dance...

So, I was half-listening to Fleetwood Mac on the radio this morning, and suddenly it dawned on me:

We need a /dancewith command. This would let you target a player (might have to group up) and create a "dance session" with that person. It would be consensual, meaning that the other party would get a dialog box and agree to allow the dance session. Once agreed, the initiating dancer would basically send bandflourishes to the other party, causing him/her to mimic the flourishes of the dancer. Voila! Couples dancing and only one of the parties has to be an entertainer. Either party could break the dance session just by using /stopdance or walking away, same as it works now.

I'd see this as a novice dancer ability. Something nifty to work towards rather than something that any hobbyist could perform. It would probably NOT be an XP-generating activity. Aside from the fact that its main use would be to give special attention to a customer, it would make the coding that much simpler if the game engine didn't have to worry about tracking who's a dancer and who's not.

What do y'all think? If the feedback here is good, I'll send it as a suggestion to SOE and encourage y'all to do likewise.

Two thumbs up.

And while you're at it, whisper/mutter commands (Mutter is like whisper, only random words pop out, it's so much fun) for private conversation, and tables/places for private conversation where you don't have to be in the same group, which is mostly OOC in /gc anyways....

*blink* Sorry. I'm getting ahead of myself.
I love your idea, please submit it.

"Having an enourmously overblown sense of one's capabilities is NOT a super power. Having such an overblown sense of pride or self preservation that one actually manages to PULL OFF actions equal to one's overblown sense of one's capabilities is closer, but still doesn't count as a super power." -Madame Parker

Thats a wonderful idea. I often dance with customers who have Novice Entertainer skill. Some of them go get it just for the enjoyment of dancing together. We may use different styles, but the effect is the same. Only problem with the bandflourish technique is that if you're FACING each other you move in Opposite directions.

We normally dance pretty much like couple do in the other world. Face to face, maybe a few spins but otherwise pretty independent free form.
