Thread: What are you charging for buffs?

I don't give them away because I don't want to reduce the value of the buffs. I would like to know what you have found patrons willing to pay for them. The other night I didn't feel like dancing, so when someone asked for a buff I told them "sure, 5k" thinking they would go away and leave me alone. Instead they said "sure! no problem at all!!" So they tip me the 5k and I buff them. Another guy /tells me he wants a buff and I told him the same thing. "5K for targeted buff". He must not have heard me because when I started to dance he tipped me 1k. I hadn't focused on him yet so I asked if he planned to tip the rest after he was buffed. He got kind of miffed at how much I wanted for it (mind you I REALLY didn't want to dance). I tipped him back the 1k and sat down, continuing my conversation with my buddy.

Anyway, not my best moment, but i'm not always feeling congenial. The point here is what can we realistically charge and expect to be paid for this service?

When we first got them I did some market research and most of my customers agreed that 1k for passive and 2k for active was pretty fair. What are your thoughts.

Hey Silly! We had a whole long thread going about what to charge. The prices ranged from 0 to 5k or so. The general consensus was 1k since we're buffing one stat. I haven't danced much in the last couple of weeks but ona "starter planet" I tend to tell them to tip me what they think it's worth (provided they've not left me in the lurch before). On a more advanced planet, I would probably set a price of 1k per person. If I wasn't already dancing (such as in your scenerio), I'd probably set a price beforehand too.

small tip from my side...:

dont charge a fix price for the buffs. just tell him that he/she should tip you whatever he/she feels like.

I actually never say anything about the price. if i get ask i just say, "tip what you like"

I get tips ranging from 1000-10 000. Most time 2000. sometimesI get none. but well, that's okay with me.On a good evening I can easily make 30k credits with buffing only...

If you tell the customer a fix price you will never get more or less, but most time they give more than less...

I used to get 5-10k tips for just dancing (basic 2 mind you). Then the value of the dancer seemed to decrease as the number of dancers increased. The more people giving the buffs away without charging could flood the market and drive thevalue down. I ask that you please charge something for this buff as it is the one of the few things we have to market ourselves with. Last night a very sweet gentleman paid me 10k for it even though i'd already told him I only wanted 1k. (It was not a typo on the tip-he wanted to pay more) So i'm thinking that the ones who intend to pay you well will do so anyway.

I know this will likely cause controversy but i just want to have it in here for the record so that 3 months from now when everyone is whining that customers expect the buffs to be free i can say "told ya".

I get tipped for a buff almost every time (95%). My way of "charging" paid of well.

The biggest problem about tipping imho is that some of the new upcomers dont do Dancer because they are into entertaining, performing etc... They do it for the buff they get...

I don't charge. Sorry Silly. But a fair charge (1-2k) is less than the average tip. Go figure. Anyhow, income to me seems to be higher with the no charge method. The other advantage of not charging is that you can easily say "no".

Besides, by the time you make master, you should have more money than you know what to do with anyhow

If you start charging for buffs on the advanced planets, it will really cut into your money making. Tips are fantastic on the advanced planets. I regularly get 5000 credit tips, I have received a 10,000 credit tip. Once someone asked what my largest tip was (10,000 at the time) and then tipped me 25,000 credits.

When asked how much I charge, I dont even say 'Tip what you want', this is suggesting that I want a tip and thus I want to be paid. I always answer 'I dont charge for my healing, I just love to dance'. Gets me tips every time.

Of course to be fair, dancing and healing xp is horrible on the advanced planets.

for my part, i never ask a fixed price neither

i usually say , tip what you think it is worth (hehe it is work to buff, you cannot chat and pay attention to he other customers as well as usual , because trying to make lots of flourishes etc, well you know how it is )

i got between 1000 and 10 000 too

i hate having ask to be paid, and asking for a fix price
