Thread: Dancers Buffs Facts, please
I have read/skimmed several of the threads regarding the Dancer's mind buff. What I have still failed to find are some good, solid facts on how the buffs work. I understand howthe buffsare applied, but there still seems to be a question about the actual mechanics of them.
I have read that you must have your customer /watch for 5 minutes to receive the full duration of the buff. I have also seen that this must be 8 minutes. Is the full duration of the buff 2 hours, or, does the level of the dancer factor into this? If the dancer level does modify this, what is the modification to the equation?
Do flourishes affect buff duration, or buff effectiveness? Or both? How, and by what measurements? (X% per flourish?)
Do any of the light effects affect any of the qualities of the buff?
I understand the devs wanting to keep some corners of the game hidden. However, when a doctor crafts a buff, he gets to see the % increase in effectiveness based on his experimentation. He also gets to see the base level of the buff, and can then determine the approximate range of effectiveness. Those are all facts that the doctor can see. I am just requesting that we get to see the formula from which our buffs are based.
Thank you! ![]()
Currently I have customers watch me for about 10 minutes. I'm a master dancer. It's possible 5 or 8 minutes might be enough, but without some sort of in-game confirmation, I prefer to err on the side of caution.
The duration does seem to be about 2 hours. It varies. Many people simply don't see the whole buff because they die (not an uncommon occurance). I cannot personally speak to how the level of the dancer factors into the length of time, but from what I have read, the level of the dancer only affects how MUCH the buff gives to the mind pool. I could be wrong.
Constant flourishing, from what I've read, allows you to give the maximum buff duration in the smallest amount of time. I have no data to back this up, but as above, I flourish like crazy to err on the side of caution.
I'm not sure if light effects have anything to do with the buff. Apparently your SKILL in that line may affect how much the buff provides, but actually using the light effects...I have buffed people never once activating the lights and they get the buff just fine.
Hope I helped a bit.

Thank you! I appreciate your response. Although, I've determined much of the same that you have through experience. I guess that what I'm looking for is some sort of factual chart from Ravenmist, or from the developers. The medical profession gets hard facts about the buffs that they provide. I don't think that it's unreasonable to request the same facts from the devs for Dancers/Musicians.
is it only the mind pool or Focus and willpower as well?
Dancers buff the mind pool itself. Musicians buff the secondary stats in exactly the same way dancers do.

I believe if you look at your Mind Buff skill (dont currently remember the exact name) it tells you what your buffing percent is. For a Master Dancer this skill is +100 and they can do a 100% mind buff. As a dancer with Level 4 in the first branch my skill is +75 and I noticed I do a 75% buff. I would assume this continues down the branch.
I do not know how long the buff lasts but tell them it lasts about an hour. If it lasts longer great, but if it lasts shorter I would expect to get a complaint.
