You too can be a real life entertainer and make BIG BUCK$!
Things you will need:
1)Continuous loop tape
2)Wind up timer
3)A loud stereo
4)Full medical coverage
Step 1.
Splice the tape so it is no longer then 5 min in length (shorter duration is even better). Record music on the tape along with your voice demanding tips, favorite movie quotes, excerpts from your resume, and any other inane babble you can think of.

Step 2.
Set up your stereo on your porch and play the tape as loud as you can. Go inside and set the timer for 1 hour and watch TV.

Step 3.
When the timer goes off march to one of you neighbors houses pound on the door and demand a tip. If he complains about the noise use one of the following excuses for your behavior “Hey buddy I pay rent here same as you don’t tell me what to do!” or “I am doing a public service, see the guy on the next block doesn’t have a stereo”

Step 4.
Go inside your house and call someone at random and complain that your not getting any tips and your not getting anywhere in life because your neighbors is cheap. Call your congressman and demand your neighbor be forced to tip you.

Step 5.
Reset timer for 1 hour and repeat from step 3.

Price of a continuous loop tape $12
Price of a wind up timer .99 cents
Wtching your neighbor beat the &%*$ out of you ….Priceless

Gotta tell ya guys, I at least expected a response to my question. I'm sorry all you can seem to do lately is bitch about AFKers and how they are ruining everything.

My opinion on this is moot, but what I do think I have a right to say is that you need to just leave the flaming and griping alone. Nothing anyone says is gonna make a diff, unless the devs want to do it. So... Why don't we get back to the important business of assisting those who need assistance, no matter why they're here. And taking care of those who wish to learn.

I've seen children in kindergarten do less bickering. I don't care of you want to flame me. Go for it.

Am'ava

I'm in it for the fun but the AFKers and the whiners about the AFKers are killing it.

Soe has made it quite clear that unattended macroing is not cheating.

Wrong. SOE made it quite clear that they will not enforce parts of their EULA stating unatended gameplay is forbidden. I'm not a lawyer, but it would be interesting to know: If one part of a legal document is not fullfilled by a party, does that nullify the rest of the document ? On what base do they punish harrassment and exploiting if they let unattended gameplay slip ? Note that they did not change the rules. Unattended gameplayis still against the rules. It's just that the referee told all players that he'd not turn anyone in for it.

SOEdoesn't need AFK preventing measures.SOE doesn't need to code a single line. SOE needs to send a CSR around enforcing their own rules. How can a full set of rules be respected when one rule is openly disobeyed without consequences ? Other MMORPGs manage to have staff in-game. SOE, as with any part of this game, manages to fall behind standards of older MMORPGs.

Quit telling others how to play the game.

I don't tell anyone how to play the game. I tell them to play the game in the first place. Play by the rules. Not playing by the rules is cheating and any serious player of any game will tell you that cheating and playstyle have nothing in common.

Who gave me the right to determine what is or is notevil?

Your role as a human being. If you cannot determine for yourself what is morally right and wrong, get the *selfedit* out of the gene pool. People like you are furthering evil by just standing at the sidelines and doing nothing.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing ( not my words, but maybe you should think about them ). You can have an oppinion contrary to my own and I'll respect you for it. But don't tell me that you cannot determine what is right or wrong. That's *selfedit*.

If I'm going to stamp out evil, it's going to be going after terrorists or murderers or rapists. Compared to those actions, AFK macroing in a MMOG is a joke. Please. Think about what you're saying and comparing this to.

If you cannot make up your mind and tell good from evil in a game, how will you do this in a complex environment with no clear cut rules ? *sigh*

Is AFK dancing the biggest evil in the game, in your eyes? If so, I'd suggest you broaden your view of the game.

Doesn't matter anyway. It's not something that can be fixed. But go for it anyway. Piss and moan and bitch until the devs cave and spend the coding time they've allotted to dancers this time around to combating AFK. And when they implement it and it's defeated in a week, you can get even more pissy and perhaps even quit the game in frustration.

I define evil as an intentional harm or harm caused by ignorance. And to entertainers, I consider Macrotaining the biggest evil.

When will you broaden your view ? Look into other games. How did UO combat macros ? You don't need a single line of code ! All you need is enforce the rules that say no unattended gameplay. Have a CSR go around and warn people. You will always have die hard cheaters and third macro programs. But you will prevent 90% of macroing by simply enforcing the rules. No law is gonna hold if the police doesn't enforce it, and no additional laws ( or coding time ) will rectify it. Let the executive deal with people who disobey the rules and it will work for most people.

I came back to this thread to tell everyone who helped out thanks. I'm close to Master Dancer and once I get there I'll drop it.

I do want to say that I am surprised by some of the responses to this thread. Seems to me like some people need to get out a little more or at least take a deep breath. It's a game and to define it in real world evil/good ideology is kind of crazy. And if you really think that evil is defined as macros or AFK you need to get a grip.

And just so everyone knows, I swear I'm not evil. I'm actually a pretty nice guy.

Anyone who can't accept how other players play their game should have their head examined...

Some people want to do things the easy way. People invent things to do things easier/faster? Do you ever eat fast food? ever used a microwave oven? do you ever buy sliced bread? Butter?

For christ sake let people play a freaking game they pay for without having to hear a lot of fascists telling them what to do or not to do.

It's one thing to have an opinion, but trying to force your ideas on someone is probably a good sign you should turn off the computer for a few days and experience a thing called Real Life.

Besides those AFKers should be looked upon as dancers who had a little to much Ecstasy. They stand there dancing hour after hour unaware of the surroundings...

I fully agree. I can't understand why AFKers can't accept the fact that they ruin other's experience. Why won't they leave the cantinas to let us enjoy them? They're Griefers.

It's called cutting corners. Stealing what you didn't earn. Taking the easy way out.

They can play how ever they want to. However, if they have any class what-so-ever they would simply log out before leaving their computer. Going afk is NOT playing.

I'll ignore this assumption because it's apparently based on nothing of value.

Exactly what I do. Except there's no ecstacy, it's spice. Problem is, you can't have them arrested or anything in the game

LOL. Yeah. And as I'm too lazy to work I simply go and grab some money where I can find it, banks, grandmas, whatever. Don't force me to live my live according to your rules, fascist.

What I would like to see is implementation of a system that provides additional rewards to dancers that are at the keyboard, similar to the popups that resource samplers get.

Make the rewards significant. Credits. XPs. Items. Holocrons!!!!!!
