Thread: AFK dancers need to be removed from the game or remove mind buffing from Dancers.
2) Don't blame us for Sony's incompetence and their lack of courage to remove the AFKers from the game. Trust me, we hate them more than you do.
3) How is the upcoming chef change a nerf? You seem to be getting a HUGE upgrade in terms of what you can buff and the power at which you can buff.
Like Javier said, those of us ATK do grant mind buffs.
You can thank the hordes of AFK players though on why people can't locate me any longer in most public venues. I don't have to dance in a cantina crowded with mindless zombies, and as I stated in my bio, I won't dance in the Coronet Cantina, so don't even bother asking.
That being said, if I were on Kettemoor, I'd say to look me up the next time you're on, and I'd try to help you out. I suggest that you post that you're looking for an ATK Master Dancer on your server. I'm sure there a few in hiding that would be happy to help.
I am a master dancer, so there is litte reason for me to AFK dance. Though to say that I never have, and never do, would be crazy. I keyboard danced for most of my journey, and did most of it away from coronet (until then end when the benifit of folks who have friends willing to disease themselves for the dancers overpowered my patience).
As a master Dancer, I would say I dance only sometimes, when I feel like it. For a while, once I had master dancer I did still AFK dance at night on remote planets, for the sake of those hunting there. Did I expect tips as an AFK dancer? Yes. Do Artisans expect their stuff to sell with out them standing there? Yes. I looked at it as a business venture, providing a service that was not being filled. The rewards were erradic, and almost always diminishing after the first few nights. So I removed myself from the AFK dancing world. Let those who would not tip me wait longer while trying to entertain themselves, or spend the money going to another planet and coming back.
The end result: I don't AFK dance often anymore. But I don't hold anything against those that do, especially those coming through the ranks. I also don't hold anything against those grinders who have people get diseased, or take turns gettind diseased for the group to get Entertainer Healing Experience. I look at them as the same thing, people grinding their way through the levels. If anything, the AFK dancers are more honest to the game then the disease and suicide grinders.
If you want a mind buff and you can't find one, you aren't looking hard enough, or you aren't enticing the dancers enough. I've not responded to people looking for a mind buff if I'm doing something else, until they said that there was serious money behind their search.Dancers will appear where there is money to be made.
I would mindbuff, if someone would care about.
In the last 2 month I had 4 tells, if I can buff someone.
I was standing one week on Dathomir and not one person asked me for healing or a mindbuff. The afk dancer in the cantina was enough for their needs.
One example here:
An adventurerer came very wounded from a hunt shouting "is there an entertainer?, I will pay 10000cr for healing".
I told him to go to the cantina. After arriving ( 30 seconds later) he said sorry the afk was faster.
So you wish the help, the buffs and presence of real entertainers/ dancers/ musicans? Then assist it and do not let you heal from afk Zombies. Use the search tool and let the Coronet Cantina (Theed also) behind you.

Sure I could sit there and let someone then heal my mind and such, but didn't dancers want something more for the class, like buffing the mind? And now the dancers have a mind buff but are all AFK so no one gets it.
Big word: ALL
So, all the dancers are AFK? I'm kind of worried about your Big Brother ability to determine that dancers are AFK. Ah, but I have no fear after all. If you had that kind of omniscience, you would know that I am not AFK and that I appreciate the mind buff ability. I was especially glad when they increased the power and duration.
But since there are some dancers who displease you, then I deserve to have my profession ability stripped away from me. Sounds fair. By the same token, a chef once called me a dirty name. I believe all chefs should be stripped of their ability to craft. How dare they!
In the old days, you got buffs just by watching dancers. Now that they're more powerful, they are more selective, so you have to work to get your mind buff. Just going into a cantina and asking won't do it. There's a chance you'll find a dancer to buff you, but don't hold your breath.
You need to network. Just like you probably won't find a random master weaponsmith to craft you a killer scout blaster, you probably won't find a random dancer to buff. Which is too bad, because you should be able to walk into a cantina and get your three Blue buffs. These buffs should be easily available. But we dancers will go where the fun is. Zombie Town is usually not much fun.
So I'm not in the cantinas anymore. Those who know me know how to find me for the buff. You probably won't find me by walking into a crowded cantina and calling my name.
Why do you absolutely need an entertainer 24x7 in every cantina? What's the big deal about going to a different cantina to find an entertainer? Do you find a doctor in every hospital?
Is it really any of your business how someone else enjoys their play of the game? If they want to sit there and craft chance cubes for hours on end and throw them away...how is it hurting you and why do you care?
I'll tell you why there are so many afk dancers and musicians all over the place.
Sony.
Not only did Sony ruin the entertainer profession with holocrons but the game in general. You are hard pressed to find a "pure" person in any profession now, and by "pure" I mean someone who is working on that profession purely because they WANT to. Of course the cantina is full to the brim with AFK performers. A little blue cube TOLD them to do that. People who have no interest whatsoever in being a performer aren't going to sit at their computer and hand flourish for you. They're just not going to do it, period. Until Sony implements the new way to become a jedi, these AFKers are going to continue to dominate the cantinas. If you're going to complain to anyone, complain to Sony, not to them. And like Javier said, it's their business to play the game as they see fit, and as Sony allows.
That being said, I do have one cantina gripe. People, if you're going to be group leader, don't go AFK.
Oh, and Javier, aren't you Mr. July of the Galaxy Guys 2004 Calendar?
*cough*
Not that I looked at it or anything...
much
I can neither confirm nor deny any participation in said calendar on the grounds that such a statement might implicate me and ruin my chances at public office in the future.

We need tons of AFKers unless your going to be on 24/7 in every cantina that people need heals, how you can even be at the keyboard dancing is beyond me. Can't believe you pay for that.
