Ok.. So i'm out driving around when I happen upon a spawn or something of about 20 rebel npcs. Over half of them have that blue icon with an i over their head meaning I can get a mission from them. Well, I'm not used to seeing about 20 npc's randomly spawned out like this before so I go up to one and try to talk to it. I didn't think that I would be able to because I'm neutral.

I talk to it and it gives me a mission, and from the coversation the mission giver is saying, it seems to be a dancer mission (i'm a master dancer btw but had up one of the BE tags). So, I decide to check the mission and sure enough, it's a dancer mission. So I humor the npc and drive out 5k to where the mission sends me. It sends me to one of the rebel cities player cantinas. I was suprised by that, because I wasn't aware that they give missions to the player cantinas.

Anyway, the mission is for only 132 credits but i thought what they hey!. I did it and after the 10 minutes of dancing non-stop, It tells me my reward is inthe bank and I click on my character sheet and it had gave me +6 rebel faction as well. Before that I had no rebel or imp faction either way because I was a solid nuetral.

Has this always been here??? I didn't realize I could earn faction this way? And umm... how did the NPC know thatI was a dancer to give me a dancer mission? Any insight would be helpful

I wasnt aware there were faction NPCs that gave out this type of mission as well. But I have ran across loads of NPCs out in the wild that give out various profession related quests.

You just happened to pick the one that gives dancer quests, if you had talked to another I'm sure it would have gave a quest for a different profession. Sometimes they will all give out various related profession quests, for instance all artisan quests, but one gives out survey, another engineering, etc. At least thats what I've found in the past.

I've been suspicious of them since somehow I got 7 imperial faction and didn't know how, and then had 7 Rebel appear too- both after such encounters. I just don't find 130 credits worth a 5k jaunt hehehe, so I didn't pursue it.

Random NPC spawns have been able to hand out missions based on the characters professions for a while, but giving out faction is new since the Imperial Crackdown patch. The Reb & Imp theme parks give out faction now too, and never did before the patch.

I've gotten faction from random NPC missions in the past. That's how I got my first faction points.

The rebel and imperial themeparks have always given faction points as well. I did the Emperor's Retreat a long time ago, depending on what mission you do for the person is how the faction points are given out.

1st mission per NPC-10 FP

2nd mission per NPC-20FP

3rd mission per NPC-30FP

etc...

Each NPC in the theme park starts at 10FP and resets for each new person you talked to. That is at least how it worked back in August.

"Which did you like better? 'Jedi' or "The Empire Strikes Back?"
"Jedi"
"Blasphemy!"
"'Empire' had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, find out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings. All 'Jedi' had was a bunch of Muppets."

During my first week or two of play, I starteda weekafter launch, I found an npc rebel that gave me survey missions. I received Rebel faction for those missions.

Yes this has allways been in the game (since bata). They don't allways give you "gig" missions though they can give you any type. If it's rebel or Imperial people then you get faction points too. If they are not rebel or Imperial npc's then you just get money. The pay is never all that high but its fun RP and if your careful about it you can take missions from terminals going out in the direction of the NPC's you found and get missions from them going in the direction of the city. Works out to be some nice travel pay.
